"I believe we should recognize them, giving them some sort of status."

We do recognize them, Mr. Garza. They already have a status as illegal immigrants subject to deportation as are other illegals. Why should we circumvent our immigration laws for Mexicans, Mr. Garza?
Is there a Statute of Limitations in our immigration laws giving immunity after a person manages to remain undetected for a number of years, that you know about but the rest of us don't, Mr. Garza?

It matters not one iota what the American public thinks. Corporations pay the bills at the RNC and they want no borders or any hindrance to cheap labor and higher profits. The business of America is business and conservatives had better wake up and realize that or we are doomed. Pressure has to be brought to bear on the corporate sponsors of the RNC who are their paymasters.

White House chief political strategist Karl Rove told The Washington Times last year that an Hispanic-outreach strategy was only part of a broader plan to elect more Republicans to Congress and win Mr. Bush a second term. Mr. Rove said Mr. Bush's popularity among Hispanics was the result of a pattern of communication strategies, policy initiatives, high-level appointments and foreign visits.

It's all a selfish political strategy. All we need is more illegals voting for Bush while they stay on the wefare rolls!

Nobody is "bringing in" workers.

Sure they are ---human smuggling rings in Mexico are very well organized. Those 11 immigrants who died an excruciating death last July in Iowa, locked in a train car, didn't lock themselves in. They were locked in that car while it and they were in Mexico. This isn't only about people packing up and heading over the border, many are recruited to their jobs while they're still in Mexico.

Poor wording on my part. I meant to say that "Bush and company" is not bringing in low end workers.

Why are so many people here against Bush getting rid of 85% of the established illegal aliens and 100% of the illegals with less than ten years here?

I could see letting 10-15% of illegals stay ---but what does "established illegals" mean? I saw what happened in the last amnesty where people were flooding over the border, going door-to-door asking people to write a notarized letter saying they employed them for 5 years ---I know because I had them come to my door. How does an "undocumented" suddenly come up with documents? Will he allow those who have been buying stolen Social Security cards to have amnesty? They are nothing but felony criminals who should be deported and never allowed back in ---but they probably can "establish" their residency here better than those who were more honest and only worked for cash.

I'm not ready to blame Bush too much for the mess we're in with this immigration problem. Most of it happened after the late 80s but there are some seriously needed immigration reforms needed. I'd rather see them address the sponsor scams which allow indigent immigrants to be brought in legally and immediately get put on SSI and Medicaid than them going after some guy who isn't trying to access any government program or stealing citizen's identities and is only working for cash but actually working for every dime they expect to have. To me an illegal can be better than many legals ---it all depends on how much taxpayer money they're trying to get.

At the time of his approach to Red China, Richard Nixon (a REPUBLICAN for those of you from Rio Linda) was approached by an internationalist businessman who was literally salivating over the prospect of access to the BILLIONS of potential Chinese slave laborers and “customers” (although this rocket scientist had apparently not yet concluded that the Chinese people would be hard pressed to buy his stuff without MONEY!!!!).

This businessman was concerned that Nixon had been SAYING that he was cooling to the idea of an opening to Red China to quell the uprising within the then very much more America-First rank and file Republican Party.

As reported years later, Nixon told the businessman
“DON’T LISTEN TO WHAT WE SAY: WATCH WHAT WE DO!"

It is my strong memory of THAT event which prompts me to post this graphic!

AS YOU READ THIS, IT APPEARS THAT BUSH, DASCHLE AND OTHERS ARE WELL DOWN THE ROAD TO USING THIS PAGE FROM THE NIXON PLAYBOOK!

Look, America – the IDEA not the PLACE – can only continue to exist if we heed the advice of the founding fathers (paraphrased here in the current vernacular for residents of Rio Linda), to wit:
“The Founding Fathers have determined that failure to WATCH politicians – ALL POLITICIANS (even those you may worship!) – is dangerous to the security of this nation and to the freedoms we paid such a heavy price to TRY to leave you and your children.”

“Yes, we did produce a near-perfect republic. But will they keep it? Or will they, in the enjoyment of plenty, lose the memory of freedom? Material abundance without character is the path to destruction.”
That from the radical right-wing, tinfoil hat wearing wacko, Thomas Jefferson.

Immigration: an issue that conservative and liberal average-joe Americans agree on. Give us a candidate who is willing to control our borders and we'll give him/her our votes. Number one issue with most Americans now is IMMIGRATION.

No one who cares about national sovereignty or western culture could honestly support Bush on his illegal immigrant policy, or on his policy on Islam.

Ask my wife who cleans the toilets in our home. The answer will shock you. A disabled, white 55 year old man. Yeah it takes me longer than most folks but I do a good job and I'll continue to clean the toilets and wash the dishes as long as I'm able.

Who cleans your toilets?

This statement is so true given how bad the immigration situation has gotten. Can you imagine a moderate/conservative/rural type Democrat coming out for troops on the borders, deport illegals, and reduce legal immigration ? It would turn the political landscape upside-down.

Before you spout your racist views and assumptions, you should think about the people you are accusing.

I was homeless as a teenager.

No one knows better than I what it means to be poor.

Yes, you are a racist, obvious from your own posting.

Each time there is an amnesty it encourages more to come here illegally. We are one amnesty away from our leading imports being poverty, and disease.

Old-style Democrats used to be precisely that which you describe.

Democrats will never return to their former selves. They have traveled too far down the road to Hell to ever get back.
