In memory of my fellow Vietnam helicopter pilots who were killed in that war the following were lost on NOV 22. God bless them all.
1965 MAJ Richard A. Miller (USMC) -- HMM-362, Age 35, New York, New York
1965 MAJ Francis E. Visconti III (USMC) -- HMM-362, Age 38, Syracuse, New York
1967 MAJ Larry G. Powell (USA) -- 45 MED, Age 30, Ocilla, Georgia
1967 WO1 Robert W. Watts (USAR) -- 188 AHC, Age 29, Owensboro, Kentucky
1968 CW2 Theodore Moskowski (USAR) -- 1 INF DIV, Age 44, Olyphant, Pennsylvania
1970 WO1 Jeffrey A. Coffin (USAR) -- 57 AHC, Age 20, Flagstaff, Arizona
MAJ's Miller and Visconti -- HMM-362: Bodies not recovered, Quang Tin, South Vietnam.
From WO1 Watts nephew;
He was my Uncle. Helicopter Pilot in Viet Nam. I was named after him. Never knew him. Circumstances around his death are somewhat unclear. I would like to know more.
Robert Watts -- nephew
Tribute to WO1 Coffin
JEFF AND I BECAME GOOD FRIENDS WHILE ROOMATES DURING FLIGHT SCHOOL AT FT WOLTERS. WE WERE YOUNG AND STUPID; AND WE ACTUALLY BELIEVED THE TAC OFFICER WHEN HE SAID HE WAS GOING TO COURT MARTIAL US FOR SUNBURNING OUR HEADS WHILE ON A WEEKEND PASS. JEFF WAS SUCH A GOOD PERSON. EVERYONE WHO KNEW HIM LIKED HIM. WE ALL MISS YOU JEFF.
Burton Amos -- Friend, classmate, fellow pilot
From the 57th AHC website:
November 22 became known as "Black Sunday" to all of the "Gladiators". While on a support mission for ground troops under siege at Plei Mei, WO1 Jeffery L. Coffin, piloting a UH-lC gun ship, was severely wounded in the head. He died enroute to the 71st Evacuation Hospital in Pleiku. WOl Coffin was extremely well respected by all in the 57th and his loss was deeply felt by the whole company. Five more aircraft were damaged by fire the same day.

Thank you for all that you have done in service to our great country, MaineRebel.
And SheLion, as always, thank you for your endless efforts against the nanny do-gooders, who's obsession is to control everyones life, bank account and property.

Being from Vermont (originally), I really sympathize with your complaint that Maine is becoming too liberal and RINOs. I had always thought, though, that Maine still is pretty conservative because it's such hardy country. I mean, to live like you guys do with those winters and all, you have to be resourceful. (I always thought it was California weather that made the brain go mushy!) This is just my theory, but I have best hopes for Maine's future. It's climate and landscape punishes slackers.

Good morning to you, .45MAN! Maine IS a beautiful state. It's in a period of disarray right now, and the next 4 years might be the toughest. But, if the people can survive the winters, we can survive anything!
