NEW YORK (AP) -- Two women's groups and a media watchdog organization on Tuesday asked CBS not to air the Victoria's Secret fashion show, calling it a "soft-core porn infomercial."
CBS said it was moving ahead with the broadcast of supermodels in lingerie on Wednesday night.

Anorexic half clothed plastic women is not good television. To heck with the moral issues (of which there are many), none of these women look good!! But the TV does add about 10 lbs to their looks.

What you don't see is that her arms are likely longer than yours...well, I guess there's no point in arguing with an image, especially one with that dreary slackened jaw and glazed-over eyes that passes for "sexy" ! The image does not reveal the giraffe-like proportions that would be more obvious in person-- I look at these from an art background, and would draw this gal as a boy with certain curves added, though she is not as extreme as that creature at the top of the thread with the spotted wings.

"What purpose does the special serve except to overly sexualize women and use this to bolster the networks' demographics for young men?" they asked in a joint letter to CBS President Leslie Moonves."
Well Duhhhhhh....that's the same purpose 75% of prime time network television serves. Shushhhhhhhhhh, OK NOW gang I'm going to let you in on a little secret but you've got to promise not to tell anyone - {sex sells} - now remember this is our little secret.

What you don't see is that her arms are likely longer than yours..I've stood next to her; her arms aren't longer than mine (that would be a bit difficult - my size approaches that of Charles Barkley). She's about as tall as my younger sister, and has a few more curves than your average supermodel (and VS model for that matter). My point is that all the VS models don't fit the "Kate Moss-Calista Flockhart-please-feed-me" mode that many models are in.
With many of them, I could agree with you. Most of 'em could use a Crisco-IV pumping pure fat into their veins. But there are some who actually look like "real" women; Tyra Banks among 'em.
Are there other actresses/musicians/models/et.al. that I find sexier than Tyra? Absolutely. (Lisa Nicole Carson is absolutely incredible, and she could never be mistaken for "small") But Tyra's pretty easy on the eyes as far as I'm concerned.

The proportions I work from involve head size (once she closes her jaw, dropped slackly for the photo to simulate lust) compared to width of shoulder--that's how I know her arms are long, because her head is small in proportion to arms and shoulders, just like the average male. As for your size, my term of "likely" comes from average male height, which is around five-nine. As you are above average height for a male, you've just demonstrated my point.
A cartoonist, say, that draws females for an action comic book, draws on proportions and exaggerates them for effect. In many ways, these gals are cartoonish. That our standards of what means "beautiful" these days are changing is a matter of interest when a woman considered beautiful has classic masculine proportions (with the barest minimus of adipose tissue added).

Victoria's Secret on TV 'soft porn'?Why are they targeting only this? They got something against Victoria's Secret?
If they want to target something that gets
way more airtime why don't they target the men and women's underwear and women's bra commercials?
A fine time to start hollering about "soft porn" when I still remember, vividly, a certain buxomous woman in her Platex "Cross your heart" bra on television years ago.
For more "soft porn"...(especially with the appropriate
sultry looks from certain models)...
brought to you by Hanes underwear...

CBS is giving the show a TV-14 rating, an indication that the material may be unsuitable for children age 14 and under. Isn't it funny about ratings? Those under 14 probably couldn't care less about the show. It's those 14 and older who are going to be ogling the models.

A quote from my wife: "If you don't want your husband looking at other women, marry a homosexual."
Isn't that called the Liza Minelli Strategy?

OK now that she's left the room you can tell us what you really think! That is what I really think. And I haven't pinged her to the thread either. She may need a break from sweetness; I've probably given her enough cavities as it is. ;)

Soft core porn? Heh heh, yeah right. I don't agree with that. The show may be stupid, and I would brain my husband for being Neanderthal enough to drool over it, but I wouldn't condemn it as porn. When will people lighten up?
