NEW YORK (AP) -- Two women's groups and a media watchdog organization on Tuesday asked CBS not to air the Victoria's Secret fashion show, calling it a "soft-core porn infomercial."

CBS said it was moving ahead with the broadcast of supermodels in lingerie on Wednesday night.

My lady may be nauseated by me saying this, but so far as I am concerned, no other woman for me exists in terms of love and desire. So these kind of programmes are irrelevant to me. But that's just me.

Regards, Ivan

OK now that she's left the room you can tell us what you really think!

There is no such thing as soft porn. You won't want to show the SI annual issue to the kids.

re:That is funny because for one the ladies in the adverts are not emaciated )))

Check out the black model in the spotted wings with the article. This gal looks like an "advert" for the oncology ward. Or she could be genetically male--not a few models are genetically male. IMO

No--wouldn't want to look like her. I have this theory that men who get turned on by women who look like frail little boys are seeking some "safe" way to be attracted to boys and children instead of women...Oscar Wilde could function as a husband until his wife lost her thin-little-boy look during pregnancy. Then he was disgusted with her, and sought company elsewhere.

...furthermore probably even more women would sell half their soul to look even remotely like those women do!

This is my problem with this type of "entertainment", exactly. I don't want our daughters engaging in anorexic or bulemic behavior, just to think that the primary thing that makes them acceptable to men, is the achievement of reaching a shape that is biologically impossible without a concentration-camp like environment. It also tells our young men that this is what to value uppermost in women.

Of course, its no worse than "The Batchelor", or those millionaire marriage shows, where women are shown prostituting themselves for entertainment purposes. As for banning it, all the furor over it just makes it more popular, I'd rather see the groups that are against this show find ways to promote other desirable aspects of femininity, but alas, they fail to agree on what those aspects are.

Those of you who have been making droolingly approving comments about the VS show, would you be similarly live-and-let-live about a show that featured scantily clad male models, or would that be different, since it would likely be enjoyed primarily by gay men?

There's one on every Thursday night on UPN. It's called "Smackdown."

Soft porn my ass. There are TV shows that have more explicit sex scenes than the entire Victoria's Secret lingerie debut.

I've seen more porn on PBS

"What purpose does the special serve except to overly sexualize women and use this to bolster the networks' demographics for young men?"

None, so I won't be watching it. My first instinct is to say, if you don't like it, then use the channel changer. Then I remember how far TV has fallen and I think "Gee, maybe I should write a letter of protest too."

VSC actually does a better job than most of the "fashion" industry of making women look like women. Runway models aside -that's another issue, built for TV and the clothes - the models in the catalog are generally NOT of the rib showing, hip-bone flashing, collapsed cleavage variety showcased by so many in the industry.

They may not represent the average woman, but they are a lot closer to the norm than what you'll see in a quick glance through Vogue, Vanity Fair or Cosmo.

Still, there is no doubt the media, Hollywood and the fashion industry have done young girls a great disservice by insisting on underfed heroin-chic appearance.

As long as it doesn't air at the same time as Comedy Central's "The Man's Show".

Models--how many six-foot-tall women do you know? These women are not only taller than 95% of women, but are taller than most men.

Beauty is changing, and my eyes just don't see or appreciate what is standard for beautiful now. I note the broad shoulders, the great bony hands, huge feet of these paper and video "girls"--and they register as masculine, despite the addition of silicone. The legs are not the curvy dancers (Mitzi Gaynor, Cyd Charisse), but something like a varsity basketball players (and I don't mean the girls' team). If you ever take an art course in sculpting the human face, the chief difference between the male and female face is that the male's chin and jaw bones are prominent and the female's are not, and flesh softens the face of the female. Once again, look at the models'--

Could it be, that a man wants a woman to look more like a boy?

I wish more people were as bright as you are Hunter112! I wish they knew that usually protest just makes a thing more attractive, and it is simply free advertising! The same applies in this case. I am certain there will be a good number of people who will watch this show who would not have watched it were it not for the controversy! Humans are by nature attracted by controversy (which is why in virtually all newscats the news in either negative or disastrous ....we as humans seem to need controversy to effectively function). That is why i wrote my post # 52

As for the Bachellor i watched it once and i was shocked! That is basically implicit prostitution! A bevy of women inherently selling themselves to the rich uber dude! Simpyl prostitution under a different name ....and instead of sex they have rendevous in the hot tub!

Ay yi yi!

As for the V.S women i think they are pretty! I have also been blessed to have gorgeous women ever since i started to date (and i mean gorgeous ...for example the last was the winner of a Czech model contest, and when we would go to malls i would always laugh when guys would hit display windows since instead of looking where they are walking they would look at her and end up crashing). I have also noticed that most attractive women go prefer guys who are witty and intelligent, and consider buff meat heads as just buff meat heads, nothing more! Personally i am not buff (instead tall and slim), and actually i am told my facial features are more feminine than masculine (i.e more beautiful than handsome)! However i have noticed that by simply being myself and not rushing off to the gymn to get some pecs and bulging biceps i still have a perfect score when it comes to beautiful ladies! Also by having high standards (of myself), for example not going to night clubs to pick up women, i have noticed i get a certainly higher caliber of women! My mantra is if you pick up women at some soddy sordid night spot that is the type of woman you willfind ....a sot!

There is a God, and America is at war.

Through scripture, God reveals how civilizations are destroyed because of sexual perversion. God makes it clear He will not favor a nation that breaks His commandments.

Does America ask God to shed His grace on us? Does America want God to protect us in our war on terror?

If so, pornography must not become mainstream!
