Enter Gore, Bold Man On the Left
Washington Post ^ | 11/20/2002 | Michael Kelly

A terrible banality is born. Again.

The rollout of the new, putatively 2004, model Gore is now well underway, with the usual sort of campaign that has included the usual sort of interviews that are, in the context of politics, "revealing," and the publication of the usual sort of book that is, in the same relative terms, "serious."

What will attract the most immediate attention about the new Al Gore are the "revealing" parts. To sum up, Gore still thinks he was robbed in 2000, in the unpleasantness his wife, Tipper, likes to call "when we won but the Supreme Court decided we couldn't serve." He is still magnanimous to himself in defeat, still much given to giving himself much credit for, sort of, accepting reality.

"Joined at the Heart" is self-consciously grand in intent and self-consciously radical, a manifesto for sweeping change at a fundamental level. Also, similarly, it is an intellectual mess, a shallow and aggressively disingenuous, themeless pudding of fashionable-left articles of faith unsupported by foundations of fact.

Al Gore, King of Panders....

The clinton ability to redefine himself on a regular basis issued from a demonic charisma of the sinkEmperor. Gore is merely a pathetic wannabe with no charisma yet an insatiable lust for power that he will never acquire and couldn't handle if he were to have it. Demons pick the more able self-absorbed over the bumbling self-conscious, but gore appears unable to understand that, so he continues to dream of himself in the White House.

The frightening thing is that he very nearly acquired power. As imperfect as Dubya is, he's about 1000 times more qualified that Gore to hold the Presidency.

Where Bush has core beliefs and principles Gore has polling data. Where Bush is skilled at interpersonal relationships and surrounds himself with the best and brightest Gore is a robotic actor who surrounds himself with political hacks and racebaiters.

Bush has risen to the occasion and Gore has fallen and can't get up. Bush stands center stage and Gore is a sideshow attraction in a party of geeks, freaks, and pinheads.

I just hope Gore keeps behaving the way he's behaving. Even the Kool-Aid drinkers must be starting to see through his goofy act....

This is very interesting.

I'm not shocked at an attack on Gore, or his bumbling tactics, but this is ana attack on old-school/new-school liberalism, wrapped in an attack on Gore.

Gore will soon put on his political death mask

Which one? And will it have a Lincolnesque beard?

Nice nick! My 8 year old just finished reading The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe (I read the whole series to him when he was six). He's just about to start Prince Caspian (meantime I'm reading A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court to him).

We don't got no TV....

Congratulations. Got rid of mine about 5 years ago. Called the cable company and told them to disconnect me. They couldn't believe it. Threw my remote in the lake. One of the best decisions I ever made. My only regret is... if I had it to do over again, I would have thrown the remote like a frisbee instead of like a football (less wind resistance). You can get a lot more distance that way.

Hehehehe.... I came home one day to find my TV in the garbage can. My wife got mad and just decided to toss it out. I bought another one, but she threw that one away, too. As the head of the household I refuse to let her near my computer....;O)
