I refuse to shop for Christmas gifts in a store which refuses to use the word "Christmas."
I do not shop for "holiday presents," nor do I buy "holiday cookies." My wife and I saw a "Holiday Fruit Cake" in Wal-Mart the other day. We kept asking (where other people could hear us) what holiday the seller had in mind. Flag Day, perhaps? National Boss's Day? Maybe Groundhog Day?
If a store uses the word Christmas in their ads or their store displays, they get my money. The stores selling "holiday gifts" do not. Period.

It really bugs me when I go for weeks and weeks during Christmas season, and not one ad has the word "Christmas" in it! I kept track last year, and I only saw or heard two ads with the word "Christmas." The ads were for See's Candies and Macy's Department Store. I made it a point to patronize both.

My company just announced the name change of the "Annual Christmas Party" to "Year-end
Holiday Party". I think they are trying to save money as the attendance will drop by half the usual croud. The idea was not to offend. Yeah, right!

I do this ALL the time when I am out during this time of year. Drives my wife nuts, but I really don't care. I confront people...ask them where the tradition of exchanging gifts for this 'holiday' come from? Why are they ASHAMED of Christmas? I believe Jesus had something to say about those who were afraid to confess Him to others. There is nothing like pinging someone's 'comfort zone' this time of year.

The only thing is, is many old Christmas-time carols and hymns use the word 'holidays'. There's that song: "There Is No Place Like Home For The Holidays". Also, a lot of old carols, and Christmas-time songs like: "Jingle Bells", "Winter Wonderland", "Silent Night", "Here We Come A Caroling", "Happy Holidays", "Santa Claus Is Coming To Town", etc. You do like to listen to those do you?

The corporate world seems to be obsessed with the "holiday" spirit if you will. I make it a point to say Merry Christmas at work, at the "holiday" party which I call the Christmas party.
Even in NYC the majority of people are Christian.
