Is this the first picture of an American Soldier killed in Afghanistan? (Propaganda)
Al-Ansaar News Agency ^ | Recent, but unknown

Posted on 11/19/2002 4:20:34 PM PST by Heartlander2

Our reporter obtained this gruesome picture from Pakistani Mullah alleging that this was an American soldier who had been captured and then had his throat slit in Khost.

In recent months the Americans have conducted several search and destroy operations in Khost. Maulvi Gul Mohammed, a supporter of the Taliban who passed the photograph to our reporter claimed that he had seen two other photographs , one featured an American soldier dangling by his feet from a tree and another photograph which showed two captured American soldiers tied together.

Mohammed claimed that local Pashtun tribes who supported the Taliban had killed the American soldier by slitting his throat. He alleged that many American troops were rude and abusive and thus the local tribes were turning against them. He added that slitting an enemies throat was a traditional method of getting revenge and that this photograph with others would be circulated at Fridays prayers all over Pakistan.

For many months there have been rumours floating around Pakistan and especially the areas bordering Afghanistan of American soldiers being killed in action. Some of these figures range from 5 a week to over 1000 Americans soldiers killed so far.

The Balochistan Times quoted an unnamed American source who claimed that 40 American soldiers were missing in Action. The Frontier Post has regularly written about American casualties and several Magazines in Pakistan have contained several stories. Only Last week the Washington Post had an interview with General Franks who admitted that the War in Afghanistan was 'faltering'

If this picture is true , then this is the first picture from Afghanistan of an American casualty.

Ayman Zawahri, the second in command of Al-Qaeda in his recent speech which was broadcasted on Al-Jazeera claimed that over 50 Americans where killed in Gardez alone and that soon the world will know about the reality of American deaths.

Our reporter contacted the American authorities in Pakistan and Afghanistan, however they refused to comment, instead they asked where we had obtained the picture from. A source in Kabul said ' this will really upset the American people, it will remind them of Vietnam '.

We also contacted the American Embassy in London , who refused to comment and said that " we have named all of our casualties who died in the war on terror, and we are not aware of any pictures, where did you get the picture from '

General Hamid Gul, the former head of the ISI in Pakistan in a recent interview said ' dozens of American troop have been killed, I wonder how many more will get killed before the Americans admit this'.

"A source in Kabul said ' this will really upset the American people, it will remind them of Vietnam '. "

Nothing transparent about this PR strategy.

The uniform does look vaguely American. What sort of weapon is it? What unit does the patch belong to? If they had the person in captivity why did they cut his throat and leave the body rather than keeping him as a Prisoner of War and announcing his capture and his name. How could they cut his throat when he had a weapon? Why would they leave the weapon there with the body?

These are just a few questions that come to mind.

Dont worry, in typical coward style it is a very badly framed photo, and you can barely see any details on the poor fellow.

Looks typical of uniforms worn by Russian forces. Has that diffused spotted camo look.

I don't think it is an American. There appears to be a pocket on the arm sleeve directly below the patch. Maybe on a field jacket, but not a bdu blouse. Maybe this is a dead Russian form ten years ago.

It looks like an old Warsaw Pact camo pattern.

This is probably a recycled photo from the USSR-Afghan War.

I believe the photo is authentic in that it portrays an actual dead body. From the appearance of the Russian uniform, it is the body of a Russian soldier perhaps taken during the Russian occupation of Afghanistan.

the uniform may or may not be authentic. It's certainly not the current (old-style) Battle Dress Uniform; it may either be the new one or another one. The patch, authentic, is the patch of the 10th Mountain Division, members of which we know are deployed there. The machine gun in the background is an M60 medium machine gun (or at least the front end of one). The facial features however are almost certainly Afghan. Either they killed someone or they covered him with katsup (or katsup equivalent) before the photo.

I'm thinking that should be Pakistan vs Afghanistan in the title. Anyhow, I won't believe anything or anyone with an Al in the name. And the part about circulating the photos at Fri prayers... What a bunch of frickin animals

Uh oh! I was afraid of this happening again. We didn't hear of all of these propaganda stories for awhile. Now they're coming out again! Ever since 'Bin Laden is alive stories and tapes' appeared, these stupid psy-ops stories started coming out again.

I have a real hard time believing these foreign ME news sources. For one thing, Mr. Rumsfeld, Gen. Myers, Gen. Franks, our President, and others would have to know about it, somehow. There would be body bags coming back somewhere, and people would see them, there would be all of these funerals and memorials in hometowns around the country. I could see something like this happening in Vietnam's time when there was no internet, and local news stayed local.

I guess these people seemed to forget about this, because a lot of people in the ME don't have computers or access to the internet. So they can get away with pulling the wool over their eyes. They think that all they have to do is use that magic trigger word: 'Vietnam'.

Not so with America, and other more developed countries, where a lot more of the population is internet-savvy. If it wasn't so insulting and maddening, it would almost be funny in a way! Somebody somewhere would know about 1000 of our troops being captured or killed. There would be too many body bags coming home to be hidden.

Besides, every time one of these news sources came out with these 'big American casualty' stories, Mr. Rumsfeld has discounted them, saying that everyone had been accounted for. Whether there were wounded or some killed, they knew about it, and reported it.

This is such so much 'poop'! Probably meant to get the anti-war people in a tizzy, so they'll go out and scream and rant about the great war death-toll. Pffft!

I agree with you completely. The American public should be seeing what the enemy is doing to people, but the media have been "shielding" us from seeing what is going on. I particularly am referring to the suicide bombings, which if you were to go by what you see on TV result in scared, shaken and slightly bloodied people being taken away in ambulances. But the full reality is hard to imagine, though people there see it… They see people blown apart, with heads, limbs, even breasts, blown off. What about the survivors of these attacks? No one talks about them. Who knows if they've lost both arms and legs, and whatever other awful maiming must surely have happened.

To get the public behind this war effort, I think graphic footage needs to be shown. I haven't seen it myself, except for suicide-bomber shrapnel in a person's X-ray, which was very disturbing, but I'll look. I want to know what these murderers are doing, and I want everyone else to know, too.

Hello, people: What's happening in Israel and elsewhere is coming soon to a mall or grocery store near you.

Looks to me like the only way these clowns can "hurt" us is with Photoshop.
