"New Terror Threat (to American children) in Indonesia"

The Al Qaeda-linked network that carried out the October 12 nightclub bombings on Indonesia's resort island of Bali is planning to strike international schools in Jakarta, Indonesia, The New York Times reported on Monday, citing Western and Indonesian officials.

The plan to attack Western students at the schools was uncovered in the last few days, and officials said the schools would be closed until at least Wednesday, the Times said in its online edition.

Officials declined to say precisely how they had learned of the plot, but the United States and Australia have stepped up intelligence gathering in Indonesia since the Bali attack, which killed more than 180 people, including many Australians, the newspaper said.

Based on information from Western intelligence agencies, diplomats said the planned attack was directed primarily at the Jakarta International School, (http://www.jisedu.org/) which has 2,500 students, about a third of whom are Americans, the paper said.

Diplomats told the Times the Australian and British schools also plan to close, the report said.

They are to remain closed until Indonesian police provide adequate security, one diplomat told the newspaper.

The plotters are thought to be a cell within the Al Qaeda network of Muslim extremists that has carried out several terrorist actions in Indonesia, and nearly succeeded in blowing up the American, Australian, British and Israeli embassies in Singapore last December, officials told the newspaper.

All of the incidents you mentioned were brought to you by the mainstream media which has been trashed in so many places on the internet including FR. However, I think the news does suit a pre-existing prejudice had by many here. I can imagine had the internet existed 60 years ago you could substitute the word 'black' for the word 'muslim' and the posts here would be of the same ilk. It's good to know we're all educated now.

So what are you saying *exactly*. You've made several remarks as to your disbelief in the mainstream media. Aside from casting doubt on reports of attrocities, I have read no assertions from you at all.

I am saying don't believe everything you read. Whenever stories involving the deaths of children etc., abound you have to consider likelihood of it being propaganda if for no other reason than to retain a degree of healthy cynicism (to wit the story regarding the Kuwaiti incubators used to mobilize the public into supporting the Gulf War that turned out to be a PR stunt). Whenever one reads something as blatantly enraging as this article it's imperative to ask yourself whether you're being manipulated into supporting a cause.

"The terrorists and all of their islamist sympathizers deserve a fate worse than death"

Don't worry...that is EXACTLY what they will be getting.

We don't need an article to be enraged by the actions of Islam around the world. Wake up.

I refuse to watch ABC news as long as that canadian socialist jennings is in their employ! I have little doubt as to the line of BS he promulgated about the "bad Christians" - LOL!

Heaven help those who tell the truth about ("attack") islam, the philosophy (as opposed to "religion") of hate and death, because jennings and other free-world socialists are going to attack the truth-tellers vigorously. These liberals are SO predictable, n'est pas?

Political correctness is SO entertaining in its abjectly pathetic sniveling! One of the more amusing socialist-liberal PC statements is that "not all muslims are terrorists", or "it's only muslim extremists who are terrorists", etc.! If these statements were true, the muslims who do not actively engage in terrorist acts would loudly and publically denounce terrorist acts. Instead, they celebrate, either openly or by their deafening silence, thereby proving their support. Actually, I have a problem believing the socialist-liberals are actually stupid enough to believe their own lies, so it's easy to move on to the hypothesis that they, themselves, are supporters of islam and terrorism. Intersting premise, no?

Stay vigilent, stay armed, and never trust a PC socialist-liberal or a muslim!!
