Rush - Say it ain't so!!! [No more free streams from the EIB network.]
Posted on 11/18/2002 9:27:20 AM PST by SlickWillard
It looks like Rush is no longer supplying free audio streams over the internet. The old link [http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/rush8.asx] no longer works. His website now sports a list of affiliates, but as far as I can tell, all of their servers have crashed under the load.
He wants you to pay to listen to his stream now. Memo to Rush: What the hell is this, capitalism or something?

Powder..Patch..Ball FIRE!
Yeah it's capitalism, and it's his business so he can do what he wants, but it sucks.

Tried a number of stations on the list and none of them worked. I'm surprised that WABC radio out of New York wasnt even on the list of affiliates. Had to dust off the radio that I keep under my desk for emergencies such as this.

Tried a number of stations on the list and none of them worked. I went to the KFI-AM free stream out of L.A. So far, so good!

I don't fault him for wanting to make more $$...I just wish that he'd realize the more who hear his show the better off the country is for all of us.

I don't think this is capitalism from Rush's standpoint. I think the affiliates pushed him in to this so that their website would get hits and advertising. It was like a supplier selling direct to the public and cutting out the retailer.

Don't worry he'll still supply the free printed daily commentary. If you want the Rush store, pay to join up!

I'm glad WLS has a good web stream. I don't know what I'd do w/o Roe and Gary in the afternoon.
To: jbstrick
Huh?
Those are 24/7 links for paid subscribers.
To: jbstrick
Your links are for the paid 24/7 subscription to Rush.

On WLS-890AM-Chicago he works fine.Same here. My local station invariably suffers severe interference just as his program starts, and at various times throughout those 3 hours. Never happens any other time of the day.
WLS is a good backup when Rush is getting zapped.

Yeah, it reminds me of what Patrick Henry said in the Virginia Assembly 2 centuries ago: "Give me liberty or give me death -- but not before you give me a pot full of dough. If Tom Jefferson wants to die broke, that's HIS business. This patriotic stuff should PAY, ya know."
If this keeps up, Limbaugh will be my choice for the next inductee into the Patriots for Profit Rogues Gallery.

The old top 40 DJ will learn the hard lesson Major League Baseball learned when they started charging for baseball games heard over the internet. I think MLB made like $100K tops for charging for the games, and in the process alienated a lot of fans(myself included). So may they rot in hell and enjoy 1/2500 of what they are paying A-Rod. And they wonder why fans are leaving in droves. Idiots!!!!
Good old "playing the hits while your spraying your pits" Rush will not feel as much pain as Baseball for stupid internet moves, but he will feel some.
Don't syndicated shows normally make their money with national adverts? Seems that people listening to the ads on the internet would work just as well as listen to a radio. Plus they know EXACTLY how many people are actually listen on the internet versus the stupid survey system used to track radio ratings.
