I cant get over the fact that this ever happened. He blatantly deceived the American people, but they still found a way to re-elect the man. Despite his fiction they chose to give him an additional four years to push his liberal agenda. I guess I should have seen it coming, but I still cant reconcile myself to the reality that he was chosen by a considerable margin. The Republicans, however, must accept their share of the blame for placing such a tired, old politician against him.
How did we not locate a more suitable candidate to run in this election? Where was a real leader willing to articulate that protecting the American people is the core responsibility of the federal government? Could we not unearth a single living soul who could successfully endure the assault from the left-wing media and take their case for a tax cut to the American people?
How did we let this happen? Could we not see that conservative values are the heart of American values? Did we not fathom that defending these values could lead to a political windfall the likes of which history has never seen? Why didnt we put up a better fight and limit Americas exposure to this mans agenda to only four years? I suspect I will never understand why this actually happened. I just keep telling myself that this is simply some twisted fantasy, a figment of some tortured liberals imagination.
I am proud to say that the Republicans do have a leader in which to place their trust. A man who has stood for conservative values despite his critics. I am pleased to say that I will do my utmost to see that he is victorious in the next bout for residency in the West Wing. Alex P. Keaton (R-OH) is the greatest hope for the Republicans. He and he alone can make the substantive changes needed to undo the damage caused by President Bartlet. He deserves our support.
(Authors Note: President Bartlet won re-election in the Nov. 13th episode of NBCs dramatic series The West Wing.)

(He had better check his ratings. Given the cost of producing his show and the slumping ratings, I don't think that this "president" gets beyond a year and a half into his term.)
But Sorkin was unrealistic when he had Bartlett, a President who lied to the American people, then admitted he lied, then was censured by Congress... run unopposed in the Democratic primary. Not going to happen in real life.
Then Sorkin blew it again by having the scandal put behind him 20 minutes into his "State of the Union" address. Wow! Is that all it takes?
The writing has gone downhill quickly as the stories have become more and more about less and less.
I thought I would miss the characters. I do not. Though Toby seemed to have the right idea about fighting the war on terror.
I take my politics seriesly... no joking around.
Seems like a big conflict of interest, or elitism.
There actually WAS a ( VERY short-lived ) series on the tube last year about a "liberal" senator who gets handed his walking papers by the electorate - ( Oh the UNFAIRNESS of it all ! ) - and has to try to figure out what to do with the rest of his (financially quite secure) life.
He kept saying things like : "But..but.. I took the RIGHT position on things like gun control, and health care...! "
The show was a huge yawn.
