Can you, or anyone, give me a good reason that the seat of the federal government is given the electoral power equivalent to a state? What was the argument behind this amendment?

Seems like a big conflict of interest, or elitism.

DC, no matter how large its population gets, can only have the electoral power equal to the smallest state, and they have no vote in Congress and no Senators. So the DC citizens don't really have the voting power of other US citizens.

Lots of people live in DC, they should be able to vote for the president. I don't know what the conflict of interest would be.
