Yes, I corrected myself in a post to Kozak. Apologize again for misstating. However, transmission of Hep b is based on lifestyle. It is not casually transmitted, as in measles, mumps, rubella. One must engage in risky sex; iv drug use; or engage in sex with those with said lifestyle. Now, 18 month old babies, or five year olds, or ten year olds, don't get it, don't give it, and presumably aren't enaging in a dangerous lifestyle. Why have the states mandated this? Additionally, the effects of the vaccine wear off in something like five years time. And so the reasoning behind giving them the vaccine is??? V's wife.

>>>Go to PA school, go overseas to med school and take the test on reentry. The fact is, it's expensive to educate a doctor here or anywhere.<<<

So why exacerbate barriers to entry like the AMA uniquely does, so that only the rich (and usually patient-detesting) candidates get to become doctors? Overseas, folks generally go into medicine for the love of medicine, not of money. And I reiterate what you conveniently ignore: medicine's an UNDERgraduate degree in most countries. Who said anything about abolishing medical licensing?

Only the rich get to be doctors? Here's another option for you, one that many, many use...join the service and go to med school. I know several who avoided debt that way. And if you want to practice medicine without an MD, and get a single undergrad degree, become a PA. They are very well-paid and valuable to medical practices. Many, too, use a PA as a springboard into med school--especially the young ones.

Whining and self-pity ain't gonna get you much. And this "conspiracy of rich exclusive doctors" is just so much excuse making. If you want badly to be an MD or DO, there's a way.

I haven't read of the effects wearing off, like smallpox. Besides, even smallpox vaccines may have some longterm residual value, though I sure don't want to find that out for sure.

Hep B is transmitted, as you said, by risky behaviors. And it is also commonly transmitted to health care personnel who have contact with those who engage in risky behaviors. I'll grant you that it may not turn out to be good policy to vaccinate young teens and preteens for Hep B. Could well be. There are not any significant side effects evident yet, so the trade-off looks promising. But you suggested that this is profit-driven, and it is not. (What babies do you see getting the vaccine?!) The philospohy behind this is to reduce the "chronic carriers" in order to reduce the incidence of infection for all of us. Younger people are more likely to be the newly infected.

BTW, our children may be very well brought up, but even well-brought-up young people can go through wilder stages and be influenced by riskier behaviors. Hep B is not presently curable. It destroys livers and often makes chronic invalids of people.

But this was not a scheme designed to make a lot of money. Companies are not generally eager to mfg vaccines because they are cheap and given to such a wide population. Over a large enough population, this means there will inevitably be bad results, or bad outcomes that can't even be linked to vaccines, and the companies find themselves blamed.

I'm grateful that some company saw fit to finally get the tetanus vaccine back into availability. All you have to do is get a bite from an animal...

In the middle of all that legal mumbo jumbo does it state anywhere that Vaccines will become mandatory? I have a friend who seems to think that this is what the bill will demand if passed?????

I'd perfectly happy to compete with your undertrained replacements. Just be sure they get held to all the same legal, bureaucratic, and liability standards. Give me 5 more years and I'll be happy to step aside completely and let your MI be managed by someone with a Bachelor's degree.

1. Vaccines don't cause autism.
2. Trial attorneys are saying it causes autism in order to create more litigation.
3. Pass the Homeland Security Bill in the US Senate.

If Trent Lott can't get this bill passed, we should pass on Trent Lott as Senate Majority Leader.

MOVE IT OR LOSE IT Mr Lott!

SENATOR FRIST FOR SENATE MAJORITY LEADER!

Thanks for the ping.
By the time I got it, it appears that you have successfully fleshed out the facts of the bill.

Debbie Stabenow, Senator from Michigan, did a grave disservice to her state and our nation by claiming in US Senate debate that Eli Lilly was responsible for childhood problems.

I'm so utterly frustrated by the LIES and DECEIT from the LIBERAL DEMOCRATS that I'm ready to build systems to utterly and totally decapitate their control over healthcare.

THIS IS LITERALLY WAR, but these idiots are too busy trying to protect big trial attorney donor pools to figure it out.

Protect your children and protect your families... get rid of the RATS in DC!

I was listening to Rush Limbaugh on this today.

Paraphrasing, He said this was slipped into the Homeland Security Bill by Dashule (I think it was) because he knew it would keep the bill stalled.

If it should pass with this in there our Health Care is going to go through the roof.

A woman radiologist from Mississippi called in and said because of the lawsuit on the Tobacco Companys they can't recruit doctors to come to their state because they know Mississippi lawyers are sue crazy.

Interesting tidbit: She said it was Trent Lotts, brother-in-law was the lawyer who sued the Tobacco Companys.

I listened to a report the other night and there has been no evidence of the MMR (measles, mumps, reubella) injection causing autism.

I grew up in a time where every child lined the hallways of the school to get our innoculations and never heard of any children ever becoming autistic or any other problem.

The injections sure did save a lot of people from becoming very ill though from outbreaks of these illnessnes.

As I pointed out before, autism was originally associated with the MMR vaccine on the strength of a study by Andrew Wakefield in Britain that covered all of 12 children. Subsequent studies showed NO association.

You need to do some more research. He studied another 160 children and he believes there is a connection but he's not sure of all the specifics. You are grossly mis-representing the findings related to Wakefield's investigation.

After posting this I then read the postings above it.

I see I got it somewhat mixed up. It appears the Administration is trying to keep a cap on the lawsuits and Dashule is holding up the HomeLand Bill because the Demo's want to be able to sue for all they can.

Listening to Rush in the car it's hard to keep it all straight. ;-)

1. Vaccines don't cause autism.

Well, there you have it. Bones said it, so there's absolutely nothing else to discuss. No need to look at any data or have any conflicting opinions from other experts.

I get the impression that you won't be happy until people have no control over their own lives when it comes to medical matters. After all, who should ever argue with a DOCTOR? (Forget the fact that there's lots of other doctors and Ph.D's that have investigated this issue).

Trent Lott's half-brother, Scruggs, is a very wealthy and famous personal injury lawyer. Mississippi is a perfect forum for class-actions lawsuits because of something called "joinder" (sp?) I may have that word tangled up, but it sounds like that.

How it works...you want to sue a major pharm company in Miss? Just sue the neighborhood drug store (local) and then you can drag in the pharm company. Sure does discourage those who want to open a local pharmacy. Later, the pharmacy is dropped after getting beat up in court for awhile, in order to go after the bigger fish.

Miss, Nevada, West VA, Penn--all are losing doctors.

Greta van Whatsis is married to someone who made a killing in some class action...might have been tobacco.

Thanks for all the information.

I didn't realize it was Trent Lott's half-brother, I thought I heard the woman saw it was his brother-in-law.

LOL! What the hell does that mean? He did a study but "believes" there is a connection?

This has been followed up in numerous studies and there is NO relationship between MMR and autism.

Anyway, if you hadn't noticed, they aren't saying MMR causes autism anymore, now its thimerosal.

So the problem should not be solved by tort reform but rather jury reform? Tort reform may have unintended consequences such as motivating the providers of goods and/or services to calculate odds at being convicted for providing known inferior and dangerous goods and/or serivces and paying the damaged more than is done today.
