CNN is reporting a new press release obtyained by Al Jazeera in which new threats are made against Washington DC and New York. Anderson Cooper of CNN was interviewing the AJ reporter who believed the 6 page statement to be credible and certainly from a senior Al Qaeda member, possibly the official Al Qaeda press office. The message threatened attacks unless the US stops supporting Israel.

"Leave us alone or we'll kill you."
Or, "I'm going to my room!"

I thank god everyday that we have Bush as our president. Horrible thought but I think that if we had a Democreep for president we would all be dead by now!!What is really worth contemplation is the youngins' that haven't experienced "national leadership" until now, that is if they were too young to understand the happenings in the "Regean years". They must be in ah as to being shown some leadership when they have never experienced it before.

Allah is Satan and Mohammed is his buttbuddy. Sheer poetry. You have such a way with words.

So, in other words, no official or semi-official has ever made a statement even to the effect that perhaps we should target Mecca. Publicly, to my knowledge, no. Privately I assume we have, as have the Israelis.
MAD only applies to enemies that can inflict equal damage to us as we can to them (like the Soviet Union). A concerted effort by the Arab world may very well one day be able to detonate a WMD or two on our soil, but it wouldn't come close to destroying us as a nation. On the other hand, we could kill over a half a billion Muslims in less than a half hour if we so desired, and they would be completely annihilated.

Let's hope the Bush administration doesn't condemn Putin's strong statements in the same way they did Falwell's and Robertson's.

So I know everyone is in a good mood what with our being threatened and all, but I want to know, am I foolish? I cannot take these threats seriously, I reallly don't feel one ounce of fear. I think they are just flapping their gums, what with no teeth an all. But really, does anyone take these things seriously now? Am I in denial? Here the DC area, I think we've adjusted to a lot of change of late. We're just trying to get back to normal (whatever that is) after the sniper episode.
The kids were able to get in all of their football games for the season.
Side note: Our high school marching band is spectacular and has won every competition except one held in New York just after the snipers were caught. When the people attending the competition realized these kids hadn't been able to practice for three weeks, but still showed up for the competition, the band was given a prolonged standing ovation.
I can't tell you how much that meant not just to the kids but to this whole community (as word gets out about the kindness and support of our fellow Americans). No words can express our gratitude.
Only those living here during that sniper nightmare (on top of 9/11) really know the toll it's taken on our children (and us). But we're learning to bounce back and LIVE threats or no threats.

Yep, the sad truth is that our immigration policy has changed little (if at all) since 9/11. We've been committing suicide as a nation for decades now, and the reasons for it are many -- cheap labor, political correctness, vote buying, etc. Very depressing, but we can at least attempt to do something about it ....like writing letters to the editor of our local paper, writing congresscritters, traditional protesting/Freeping, urging conservative media to focus on it (O'Reilly has done a commendable job in this regard), etc....
