Top House Democrats said today that Democratic Gov. Don Siegelman should not bring the disputed governor's race before the Alabama Legislature.

House Speaker Seth Hammett, D-Andalusia, and Speaker pro tem Demetrius Newton, D-Birmingham, said they found no support for a legislative contest of the election during this afternoon's closed meeting of the Democratic Caucus. The partisan session was held at the Alabama Bankers Association building on Adams Avenue in Montgomery.

Not a good day for DONE SINGLETERM! First the ALL-DEMOCRAT Russell County Election Commission voted to NOT RECOUNT 2-1, now the DEMS in the Legislature basically are telling Bugsy to go Pound Sand.

So let's look at Bugsy's options - go to the 8 Republican 1 Independent Alabama Supreme Court, Go to the Conservative 11th Circuit Court, or go to the US Supreme's.

Yo Bugsy - give it up dude - game over man - buhbye.

They have to see what a pathetic loser Al Bore has become, and what a drag he has become to the Dim Party. Al is STILL whining about 2000.

No such recounts are under way. A Russell County recount stalled earlier today when the county sheriff would not unseal ballots.

Of course he wouldn't - - that would be illegal.

Forgot to add this little tidbit from this afternoon - Montgomery County today told the Seigelman Campaign that they will have to pay $100,000 for a recount here.

Montgomery uses electronic push-button machines which record the votes on a data cartridge. The cartridges are then read into the central County computer. Montgomery county already reads the cartridges twice -- once Election Night, and then a second time Wednesday morning to confirm the results before Certification. If there is a discrepency they then read them a third time (There was no discrepancy this year).

A recount would involve verifying the accuracy of each voting machine - this would require the county to purchase 250 Cartridges at $500 each.

Our County Probate Judge Reese McKinney said "But afterward we would gladly give Seigelman the 250 Cartridges since he will be the one paying for them" ROFL!!!!!

that would be illegal.

Democrats don't usually consider that a sufficient reason to not do something.

Conrast this creep's loss to that of Thune's. Who lost by under 500 votes for the senate and did not contest. Liberals are so devoid of character...but then I guess al gore is their standard bearer when it comes to disputing elections.

You make a very good point - Seigelman;s loss here was roughly equivalent to Thune's - 3000 votes is a .23% difference, in SD that would be around 500 votes.

This guy just won't admit defeat! Is he the new 2002 poster boy for Democrat elections?

Siegelman mailed 3,300 letters Friday, asking supporters to send checks by overnight delivery to his Montgomery campaign office, according to a campaign spokesman.

GEEEEZZZZZZ! He's still begging for money!

Siegleman to McAuliffe: "Help, send Money!"

McAuliffe: "Sorry, Bud, we spent all our pocket change on that little jaunt to Florida a coupla weeks back, doncha know."

I just don't think Siegelman is getting the 'traction' he expected. He's toast and I think his own party wishes he would quietly go away.

Yep, I agree. I think that ailment is going around, first the dems with Clinton/Gore, and now Siegleman. A "sad time" as babs would say. :-)

Didn't they have to drag Jim Guy Tucker out of the Governor's Mansion in Arkansas?

What is the story about Jim Guy Tucker? Did he really have to be taken out of the mansion forcibly?

No - Thunes lost because enough ILLEGAL ballots and ILLEGAL registrations were used in several democratic counties (Indian reservations) in SD to GAIN enough fraudulent votes in the LAST democratic county to report to GIVE the voictory to a democrat.

AL votes were (in ONE specific county, at ONE specific known TIME by ONE incorrect data entry (a typo) to an UNOFFICIAL report) as a simple mistake that was immediately reconciled by the LOCAL OFFICIALS who found the entry.

The AL official reports counted and totaled correctly.

Completely different case.

The democratic governor is trying to recount every AL county to FIND ENOUGH extra (fraudulent) votes (in other democratic counties where NO FRAUD or errors were ever found or alleged) to change the results.
