The British tabloids have always called Michael Jackson "Jacko". One of those zany, British things.

I think I saw a NY Post headline once with the headline: "Wacko Jacko." Understandably.

My guess is Jacko no longer has a tip- and this is a silicone prosthesis covering the hole where his nostrils used to be, and the lumpy part is the "legs" that hold it on with surgical adhesive, and covered with pancake.

Oh my.

Barbara Walters once did an interview at his home/amusement park and I remember them sitting in his auditorium when he suddenly broke into some pantomime-music thing that made him look like he was demonically possessed. A creepier real life spectacle I have not seen in my entire life.

Why do you think that the tip of his nose is missing?

All the parts we can see - face, hair and hands have been altered. I hate to think what the parts that we don't see have been changed to! Maybe he took parts of his former nose and lips and had them put elsewhere! Didn't Geraldo Rivera do that with his posterior? Put a part of the flesh on his face? EWWW

"Why do you think that the tip of his nose is missing?"

It is an unfortunate complication of multiple reconstruction procedures on delicate tissue. Each surgery creates scar tissue. Scar tissue has little or no blood supply. After so many operations in the same place, there's nothing left but scars- leading to loss of what tissue is left.

Looking at the progress of his nose over the years- it appears he kept trying to make it more chiseled and fine- and had as many as 6 major reconstructions, as well as untold minor nips. Lately, they have been trying to build something normal looking, using cartilege, bone and soft tissue from other parts of his body- with very poor results.

Black people also can have a tendency to excessive scarring (keloid formation)- which may be another contributing factor- requiring surgery to remove keloids which block breathing passages, or cause new deformities. I have seen too many of these tragedies over the years.

One lovely black lady I remember had her ears pierced- and got large keloid scars. So she went to a series of doctors, each using a different method to remove the deformity- and each result worse than the last. When I saw her, she had ear lobes the size of dinner plates, more than an inch thick. All she could do was wear a wig, and tuck them up inside, so people didn't stare. We tried to help her, with microsurgery techniques and heavy doses of cortisone- and got a better result- but it certainly wasn't normal looking. She let her hair grow long to cover her ears.

Not much you can do is your nose has no tip- except keep trying. Tragic.

This photo certainly brings new meaning to his song, "The Man in the Mirror".

I hope he's been able to litigate successfully against the plastic surgeon.

He was such a cute kid. Now he looks like ... well, he needs our pity, not our censure. HE has to live with what he's created.

Amazing. I'd love to hear a professional shrink's opinion of the kind of person who does this to himself.

You're beginning with an unwarranted assumption: You're assuming that this outcome was clearly envisioned from the beginning and deliberately sought.

It's like saying that someone with an addition to the house that is falling apart because the contractor did a bad job, necessitating additional stop-gap measures to mitigate the damage, had planned the outcome from the very beginning.
