Bush: "I just gotta tell ya, Trent . . . From a distance I thought you looked pretty ridiculous. When I saw that feather sticking out the side, I figgered you look like a flaming d!ck with a cowboy hat on."

Lott, who has led the Senate Republicans since Sen. Bob Dole resigned to run for president in 1996, said security issues -- national security and the economic, health care and retirement security of Americans -- will be his focus Gee, I wonder how much this is going to cost me. I feel so .... secure.

From Natl.Rev.Online: Answering one of my own questions..............
"Some Republicans are disappointed that nobody has challenged Trent Lott for the Senate majority leadership..............says one high-ranking conservative Senate aide, there's no need to worry: "We've got Trent surrounded."
To: Oldeconomybuyer
Oh, please, God, give Trent Lott some courage this time around. We need somebody who will LEAD not follow. Please, please, please....
To: Mike K
I think you're on to something.

It's too bad these idiots are going to ban cloning research, because we need to develop some way to grow this guy some balls, a spine, and a brain.

I'm just an Ape wishing that Darwin's theory of evolution were a reality, despite all the lack of evidence that it exists. Could you clarify that for me? :)

I am surprised that the GOP actually calls him a Republican. He is the enemie's best friend. A do-nothing-but-appease-them RINO. He should kick the Dems butt instead of kissing it and trying to appease them, which is not possible.

I was expressing in print my enthusiastic response to this news.

Uh maybe because they do not yet have enough votes to take control? If they do just start fighting over leadership in the lame-duck session it will really turn off your average american. You are better off doing what you can now and taking control without a fight in January.

Look how unpopular Tom Daschle is -- I don't think I've ever seen the guy smile. it doesn't help him, even when he tries.

Let's send this to Trent. He needs it.
There are a PAIR (ahem) of other things he could also use.
Decorum prevents me from posting a picture here.

Exactly. I thought everyone agreed that Frist did a great job. I don't understand why is he is not moving up in the leadership. Heaven help us...

Didn't I read somewhere that he didn't want the position at this time ?

Me thinks Dubya is going to have to appropriate some funds to build a WOOD SHED behind the White House....

An artistic Ape I am not...however, I have several 'Spine-agra' images in my mind that would make great labels!

All the nationwide effort and struggle for nothing - incredible. After awhile, you can't help thinking, "if they don't care, why should we?"

Lott takes a lot of well-deserved criticism here on FR, but it should be noted that the U.S. Senate is a more cerebral body than the House. I used to think that as well, but its been more partisan and knee jerk than most House members. (Levin, Boxer, Kennedy, Schumer, Klinton, etc.)
