I was 12, in 1974 when my brother came back from that war. He was in California, and had a few weeks before the official end of his service. He decided to hitch hike home in his uniform, thinking it would re-assure people that he was a clean cut, responsible kinda guy. He was an aircraft mechanic and was planning to provide free mechanic's duty to anyone who picked him up.
He got spit on, had people try to run him down, and in general spent a miserable few days on the side of the road. Finally, he took off his uniform. He was home to Florida within the week. He never told me about this until last year, when he took his honorable discharge papers out of the attic and framed them on his living room wall for his children to see.
He deserved better. Americans owes a debt of gratitude and an apology to you and him and the men who didn't come home, giving their lives in defense of a people who had allowed their culture to sink to that level.

They have their right to stand up and say who they are and what they beleive in, and I have the right to utterly reject them. I raise my kids to stand for the Color Guard and the national anthem, knowing that when they stand, when no-one else does, they may attract attention to themselves, but they are standing for a reason. They are standing in honor of patriots. Like you.

Well said DG! There are others who deserve mention too! During the past few years I have come to recognize that a lot of the so called Stars have been a very destructive element to the integrity, morale, and harmony of the USA! They certainly are entitled to their political views. It seems to me though, that they are somehow underming the heart and soul of this Country. There are a lot of young and impressionable people who are fans of these idiots.
I posted a little rant here early last Thursday morning! There were so many others that I wanted to mention. I did have to keep it down to a minimum!
There are so many who are so clueless about just what it takes to protect our "rights". I am often astonished at the level of ingratitude that is out there amongst those millionaires. They are fools!
