Yesterday I went to have lunch at a nearby establishment that I occasionally frequent. They did not charge me for my meal! I got a free lunch! It was Veterans Day!
I had never before experienced such an award! I suppose that things have really changed in the hearts and minds of Americans during the last year or so!
My heart has been heavy during these last few days. I have found the Canteen to be a very important concept. It is my cyber home! There are so many of you that I have come to know in ways that I never before imagined would be possible! I read all of your posts and profiles.
I am recognizing that in any endeavor there are going to be people who will not agree on all things! We Americans are blessed with a mechanism that was designed by very great men. They considered so much before our Rights were guaranteed protection! That is, WE THE PEOPLE, and our rights are protected. To insure those rights we have established this Nation!
Among our protected rights is the right to dissent.
Yesterday, I chose not to post in the Canteen. Upon reflection, I have come to regret that choice. I sincerely love this place. The very concept is to me an inspired idea! In my opinion, the most very important thing is the Morale of our Volunteers.
It has taken me a lifetime to come to the place where I can recognize that fundamental Truth! I cannot say why it has taken me so long. It is just the way that it is! Sometimes I sleep late too!
It seems to me that there shall always be battles. Some of those battles are not always going to be fought from trenches. Some of those battles are about ideas and words and personalities! Every battle will result in casualties. Great peoples shall always persevere!
I have been giving things a lot of thought. The most important thing is still, our Volunteers! I sincerely thank all of you that contribute to this Canteen.
Sincerely,
-Radix

Afternoon, Radix, nice to see you. And thank you for your service to our country.

I'm so glad you decided to stay, Radix. My heart has been heavy too BUT, in spite of what happened, we need to keep the Canteen going. Like what tomkow6 said, the Canteen is for our Military, Vets, Allies and Volunteers. I hope and pray that we can put aside our differences for awhile and use this opportunity to show our support to those who deserve it. It's been a long time coming for most and let's not make the same mistake by neglecting those who are currently serving to protect us, our freedoms, our rights and our livelihoods. They need our support just as much as we need their protection. So, it's really time to stick together especially in the coming months ahead. God bless you.

Hello Radix. I'm so glad you've decided to continue to post at the Canteen. The morale of our troops is extremely important, and the morale of our vets, and the Canteen gives us all a fine place to hopefully keep it on the up side. :-)
