Iraq Committee Recommends Rejection of UN Text
REUTERS

BAGHDAD, Iraq (Reuters) - The head of an Iraqi parliamentary committee Monday recommended that the assembly reject a tough new U.N. resolution demanding that Iraq disarm.

"The committee recommends the following: the rejection of the Security Council resolution 1441 and not to approve it in accordance with the opinion of our people who put confidence in their representatives," Salim al-Kubaisi, head of the Arab and international relations committee told parliament.

He also recommended the parliament refer the final decision to the Revolutionary Command Council, which is led by President Saddam Hussein, "to take the appropriate decision to defend the people of Iraq, their independence and dignity."

Pelosi needs to hurry up and get sworn in so she can recommend that we pay Saddam enough $$$ to appease him. Maybe we can even put him on the sudo-Security Council at the UN for some real "positive" reenforcement.

So does this negate the article from India's National Newspaper, The Hindu, that said "Saddam ready to accept U.N. resolution: Arab League"?

"Right, I was unclear. I meant to say, it would not surprise me if Bush is prepared now to launch a major assault next week sudden and strong enough to stun the pundits, who all expect a slow crawl towards Baghdad."

Maybe. They may have chosen the 50k troop option and the mention of the 200-250k 'call-up' is just a 'head-fake.'

Saddam will be expecting the long delay for 'build-up' like the last time.

"The head of an Iraqi parliamentary committee Monday recommended that the assembly reject a tough new U.N. resolution demanding that Iraq disarm."

It does not matter what the 'parliamentary committee' recommends. Saddam decides. I'll still be amazed if he decides to stop playing the game here. This is just more posturing. He always rejects first hoping to force a better deal and trying to make himself look tough.

Next we will see a string of Leaders from other Arab nations try to 'convince him' that this is in the best interest of all the arab states and it will give a chance to vindicate himself...yada yada yada...He has to try to use the UN against us again. He will need time for that.

It is also possible that he has planned through the use of his clandestine connections with the other Islamic 'crazies', attacks around the world to make an attempt to distract and and delay us. He won't do it with overt Iraqi connections, but he would provide the money and 'bad stuff' he says he doesn't have. That part is scary....and we can all pray he won't succeed before we do.

IMO, the regime does not think were prepared to immediatley invade. During the first Gulf war, Iraqi agents were known to be all over the place picking up intel. Most of it was in the ruse of just eaves dropping in ports of call during the build up. I would suspect the same thing is happening again. Only ther eis a difference, we "own" much more real estate than we originally did. It would be nothing for us to fly around the clock flights to build up.

I think this deceision to reject the "text" of the U.N. resolution is to push our hand, try to see if they can make the U.S. blink, or, push the UN's hand to see who is really on board and who will jump ship first in an attempt to re-write the resolution. Very dangerous game. On e the regime will suerly lose.

I think that Iraq CAN'T agree to this news resolution. During the UN meetings about 3 weeks ago when Iraq spoke they call what the US was spouting "LIES", saying that they (Iraq) had NO WMD's of any kind none, notta, zip, zilch,ZERO.

So how can they say yes to 1441? What will they do when the Dec.8th deadline come to pass?

Will they really give us a list of what they have when they have already come out and said they have nothing?

Make no mistake about it. Saddam makes all the decisions in this matter. Remember, he got 100 percent of the votes in a 100 percent voter turnout (sarcasm). Obviously, it is part of his tactics. Before we make too much about this so-called recommendation of this puppet committee, we should wait to see how it plays out on Friday. My guess is that Saddam will make a last minute, "courageous" decision to ignore the "public will," and accept the UN resolution without conditions.

With 2 months of wrangling at the UN, I think he has had plenty of time to ship his stuff to neighboring countries, all of which think we are the devil incarnate.
