Man Kills Kitten In Front Of 4-Year-Old

NEWARK, Ohio -- A Ohio man will spend 30 days in jail for killing a kitten in front of its 4-year-old owner and forcing the girl to help clean up the animal's blood.

Frederick Brumage II, 39, pleaded guilty Saturday to aggravated menacing and cruelty to animals in Licking County Municipal Court.

Brumage also must attend anger-management and mental-health counseling.

Brumage told investigators he was drunk when he visited a neighbor's home Wednesday and became upset when the kitten scratched him.

He burned the cat's paws on a stove burner, then slammed it on the floor with the girl present, according to court records.

He threatened to harm the girl if she told her mother, who was in the shower.

The child is far more important than the kitten, but he deserves a severe asskicking for the kitten as well. God help anyone who pulls this kind of crap in my vicinity.

What was the mother leaving her daughter with this drunken loser for, anyway? Even if she was only in the shower, that's a heinous lapse in parental responsibility.

Cruelty is cruelty, even if you do it to an animal. No living creature deserves to be tortured without a good reason. He wasn't eating the kitten to survive or killing it because a human would benefit from teh death. He was killing it because he was a sick bastard and he deserves to be punished for that, little girl or not. It is not accident that serial killers often start out torturing animals. If you can do that to a kitten for no reason, it might be the little girl next time.

The issue is what he did to the little girl. If someone did that to my daughter I would beat the crap out of him.

I couldn't agree with you more. While his torture of the kitten was apalling, the fact that he did it in the presence of the little girl, and then made her help clean up the kitten's blood, and finally threatening the little girl, meant that he belongs in jail for child abuse.

Speaking as an only child who grew up with a pet cat, I still recall when he died when I was only 5. It wasn't the same as having a fish or turtle die. I understood the cycle of life. It was different with the cat... I had always had that cat, for as long as I could remember, and I really felt as though he was a member of my family. When he died, I had never felt that sort of loss, and was unable to go to school for three or four days, and spent all of my time crying. The simple fact was (to me) that I had lost my "brother."

Since the pet was a kitten, the little girl hadn't grown up with it, but still, it was an inhumanely cruel thing to do to the cat, but more importantly, to the little girl.

Well, I just checked and, for some reason, the post of mine you responded to as well as the one at which it was directed have been pulled, though niether violated guidelines.

Anyway, some sicko posted his "Everytime you masturbate, God kills a kitten" picture--attempting to make fun of what happened to the kitten in the article. I sarcastically responed with something like "ha ha ha some nut tortured and killed a kitten in front of it's 4 year old owner. How funny" which was meant as vicious SARCASM.
