The result is that the judiciary committee is now back in Republican hands, and Senator Leahy's got a one-way ticket on the oblivion express. This gladdens my heart immeasurably!

Actually, I have never doubted Bush's stealth methods and I saw early on that he is positively brilliant in some of his strategery. I'm afraid it is the other players that gave me cause for concern. That is not to say that I agree with all W's policies, but his opponents who continue to "misunderestimate" him will be left scratching their heads as they become less and less relevant. So go DU. Keep calling him "dumbya" and "chimpy" and talking about what a moron he is. Same for the liberal press. It gives you something to do to keep you out of trouble. As long as y'all believe that, you're far less likely to get in the way of real progress or to even figure out why you keep losing elections.

didn't have to fire a shot, merely stand back and let his opponents shoot themselves in the foot - or possibly a little higher up.
In the KNEE ????

What's interesting to note is that there is another successful "party boy" that did poorly in an Ivy League school.
All he did was play poker!
His name is Bill Gates.

Thank you so much for the heads up!

Excellent summation of the situation by Steyn, as usual! :O)

......an angel rides in the Whirlwind.... Yes, I remember those words well, and it gave us a peek into his soul, IMHO.

A politician who says what he means? Now that has to be a surprise! Albeit a most pleasant one :) Remember the media flipping out over the Contract with America? Their major source of consternation: The Republicans intended to do what they said they'd do.

The fact of the matter is that back when he was first a candidate I and many others saw something in him more than just a candidateI'm another one proud to say that I saw this early. I worked for his nomination in the primary, and one of my proudest possessions is the t-shirt that just says "Bush".
That came from the primary campaign before he selected Cheney as a running mate.

I may disagree on a policy matter, as we all will. I know that President Bush will always do what he believes is best for the country. Can't read that one without an AMEN!

Steyn is great, I agree. He misunderestimated W.So did I. I've been impatient with the president for not moving more aggressively against Iraq and Iran. But there appears to be a providential timing to the way things have worked out. Almost as if he had turned to God for guidance and been told, "Be patient and do these things in accordance with My timing." It's quite remarkable how beautifully things have worked out. Now it isn't just President Gary Cooper cleaning up Dodge while the storekeepers cower, but rather the whole world community is lined up behind right action. And that has very important and positive ramifications for the post-Saddam order of things.

I agree. I misunderestimated W. as well. Before 9/11 his speaking and his actions were too much like senior's. Afterwards he became a new man. His drive to get a consensus on Iraq has been impressive. All along I was thinking, "Not too fast. The logistics have to catch up." We went from surrender to anyone mode (forced by the Clintons) to a war state. That has to take time.
God's blessings to W. and to Dick Cheney. They and Rummy have filled me with hope again.
