Yes I can hear you now. "Oh God hear we go again, another jingoistic non thinking idiot" responding to an internet story. Tough. I looked up your email and since it is legitimate and the story verified, let me lay a few of my own thoughts upon you.
How dare you? Just who in the hell do you think you are? What are your credentials to judge someone who chooses a profession that would preserve and enable you the right to espouse your dribble on the young minds of America. It is obvious you have served nothing but yourself over the years sir. You know nothing of service to your country. Except possibly lip service. You obviously have never have served or payed the ultimate sacrifice. Let me educate you for a change. It's called service to your country sir. Something you obviously are a stranger to. Something you, as a supposed educator are unqualified to teach to the young minds of America today.
I served with men who did understand this sir. Vietnam. Remember that little song and dance? I won't bore you with my where and why. You wouldn't have a clue. But we do. We were there. Better men than you died in my arms for a nation that wanted the opportunity to preserve their freedom of speech you ignorantly and blatantly take for granted. You obviously don't know the difference. But whether you like it or not, we who did serve still consider it a noble cause 30 years later. My blood brothers who lay there still, they thought it honorable to fight for an oppressed people. They thought it honorable to fight and give a people the right to speak as you have the freedom to repulse Cadet Kurpeil.
Cadet Robert Kurpeil was proud enough of himself, of his country, and yes, even YOU to ask you for your help. And assuming that he full well knew of your political affiliations and leanings, he still considered you enough of a fellow American to ask you to contribute and help with his education. And you responded like a true socialist marxist self centered spoiled pig. What an ass. You and your kind today infuriate me sir. Your ignorance of today's world threats and dangers, your lack of respect and understanding of men who died to preserve your rights, OUR rights, your lack of understanding of how bitterly and costly it was earned over the years by men who loved our nation and what our Constitution stands for; is your shame. A young mind who wished to ask your help was flagrantly insulted by a childish and boorish coward with his own selfish ideals and behaviour.

I intend to communicate with each of the trustees (check the link above to the St. X website, where the Board of Trustees is listed) and express my incredulity that such conduct by a sitting professor could be punished in any manner short of dismissal. If, as I suspect, the school's response was limited to a written reprimand and a demand for that less-than-heartfelt "apology", I will make it my business to make sure parochial schools that feed St. X are made (and kept) aware of this episode.

I would put forth that you are better served by 1.5 million of your fellow Americans volunteering to go into harms way on your behalf than not. In the best interest of the future, please tell your wife at dinner tonight you would like to spend more time with her and the kids, and resign.

We got lucky. We encourged our girls to get higher education but they were astute enough to choose not to go. We worried about how they would be able to support themselves in todays world (We fell for the liberal-media claptrap about education). However they are doing quite well on proven ability based on past performance. One hires college graduates to work for her but but claims that the quality is very poor. The other has gone into business for herself. Sure did save us a lot of money and now we're thinking of retireing early.
