Ah, Garrison.
The man is funny, and I love his radio voice. But he doesn't seem to understand that the folks who like to listen to Prairie Home Companion are the types who identify with the down-home values he mocks. On the radio program it comes out as good-humored mocking. But when Garrison opens his mouth to spout his political opinions, the truth appears.

You are right in spades. His APHC is listened to by a lot of family values types, yet he consistently mocks them, especially in his googy column in (holds nose) Salon.

But he doesn't seem to understand But of course he does. Count the number religious metaphors in this piece. He knows exactly what he is doing.

Very insightful. I have listened to a lot of his stuff and thought it was hilarious.
I never realized he was so... leftish.
Its funny because a lot of us that listen to him are conservative at heart and he still does not get it. Its like he is in a time-warp with EVIL BANKERS coming to take his homestead and the Dems must unite.
Well, I guess I will write him off my list. Goodbye, Lake Wobegon!

He can be, when he is telling stories or doing skits on his show. But I have tried to read a couple of his books and they are uniformly neither interesting nor amusing. And bad to the point that I did not finish either one, a rare omission for me.

Garrison Keillor has had a constant problem with identifying with liberals...even on his show. His anti-Jesse attitude was demonstrated at the first show after Jesse's winning the governors election. If you aren't liberal, you aren't on Garrison's good boy list. I used to read his books and enjoy them....I don't anymore. He needs to retire.
