Still I'm curious who first invited them, and why. Most likely that's the kind of question no news reporter will be allowed to answer.

The Catholic Church brought them here over a year ago. Many of them have already witnessed a winter. But they have NEVER witnessed a winter like we get in northern Maine, that's why I can't understand wanting to send them up this way.

You might want to see if the Catholic Diocese has a resettlement office. They brought in a number of Hmong into our area a decade or so ago.

The Catholic Church in Maine is responsible for this.

The have to bring in people who can't pay taxes cuase the tax payers are getting driven out of state paying for laptops.

Well, Maine has a huge budget deficit and we are second in the nation for the highest taxes! I wouldn't mind it so much if these people worked, but one article said that they only work from 10am until 2pm. So who in their right mind is going to hire them? McDonalds?

Let me get this straight: The Jews have hatched a conspiracy to bring in immigrants from Muslim nations? I think this White Supremacist group needs to go back to the drawing board on this one!

I'm not sure how the Jews got involved in this, but this hate group is recruiting to go after the immigrants, is my understanding. Right about now, I am glad to be this far north in Maine, believe me. I don't know WHAT they have on their minds........

He was in tears because many of them called him a racist, which couldn't be further from the truth. He even has two adopted minority children, so how could they dare call him a racist! That's what hurt him so very much.

Can't blame the locals resented them. Yeah, the Somalis are infamous for welfare scam.

Our shelters are over flowing. We have our own people living UNDER the Caribou bridge.......and these immigrants get keys to housing handed to them. Where is the justice?

I am all for helping people, but lets start with our OWN first!

Maine can't even lend a helping hand to our own American homeless people, yet the state is bringing in immigrants. Something just doesn't make sense in all of this, but you can bet SOMEone is making a bundle!

Hell, we have Mainers passing huge bond issues left and right, having no knowledge that WE are paying for them with our TAXES. Most Mainers think that GOVERNMENT is paying for the bonds. So I am so sure that these same dumb Mainers think the welfare is coming from Government. Well, guess what........

As it is, they DO stand a chance, mostly from citizens who are justifiably angry and scared, and can't get anybody else to pay attention to the problem.

Some people might be surprised to learn that the National Alliance has friends in Maine and maybe even a welcoming committee.

Two years ago at the Bangor WalMart a group of Korean War Vets had a table at the entrance, holding a raffle for two hundred gallons of heating oil.

I bought five tickets and, as is my wont, started chatting them up about conservatism.

One topic led to another and somehow the Klan got mentioned. The lead Vet, a big, good ol' boy from The County, had on what looked like a wedding ring which he turned over to reveal a Klan ring and said words too the effect that, "We're here and ready for any dusky invasion."

I extricated myself as quickly and politely as possible, but I had a real chill down my spine.

This is the fundamental philosophical flaw of the Welfare State: Once you establish the precedent that people can have money forcibly taken from them (thru taxes) to support strangers, where do you draw the line?

Have people's money only support people born in their own town or state? Nope, Supreme Court struck that down, restriction on right to travel.

Have the money only support Americans? Nope. That's "racist". The rest of the world is hungry too. Gotta feed them too

Any argument you can make for being allowed to restrict the charity from out of your own pockets to just the people of your own state, I can use to argue that the charity of my own pocket should only go to my family and friends

This whole business puts a chill down my spine, metesky! We have this hate group recruiting, and now WLBZ is doing a nighty piece at 6pm news, which started last night, trying to "build up the immigrants, and how good they are for Maine." What's up with that!

I hope I'm wrong, but I think there is something brewing in southern Maine and it's not a good thing.

They say "There is a reason for everything," and maybe it's a good thing Cianchette didn't get elected for Governor. Baldy might have more then he can chew with his time in office, and Cianchette is much to nice a guy to put up with this garbage.

Didn't these same "peace-loving" people dragged the dead bodies of Army Rangers out in the streets, poked them with pocket knives, laughed at the cameras for CNN, and fired machine guns in the air to celebrate?

Think BLACK HAWK DOWN! Some of them are putting a spin on this that "these Somali's aren't the same breed of Somali's that downed our plane and dragged our dead soldier through the streets. But I don't buy it. I don't buy it one bit.

Your are right about that.

This last tuesday I voted against bond issues as is my wont (in Illinois) and you know what they didn't past.

The last ten times I voted against bond issues (if the state wants money it increases taxes, not bonds) they all passed, that was in ME.

They had trouble at the High School there a month or so ago. The white kids were beating the crap out of them. Not sure how that's going anymore. Haven't read anything in the news.
