I need anti-living wage talking points for our crusade against it here in the Peoples Republic of Arlington, Virginia. Thanks Freepers
I'm not sure I understand. Presumably you are arguing with people who think that a law should be passed guaranteeing a "living wage". But this, in turn, implies that there are employees who, currently, do not make enough money to live.
And that means that they're dead.
So there's not really much to discuss. ;) A "living wage" is any wage that supports "living". So just tell them that they are being dishonest in their use of language. Not that they'll care.
Of course the economic argument you could use is that a "living wage" law will cause increased unemployment. Not that they'll care.
The main problem here is that people who advocate things like "living wage" do not do so because they have logically thought it through and think that it's a great economic policy. They advocate a "living wage" because they think it will get them more votes. This makes it very difficult to rebut their arguments, because they don't actually mean what they are saying in the first place.
They just want the votes.
Parsy who apparently thinks the laws of economics can be suspended by government decree.
