California Election results for governor
It appears to me that the GOP is consistently losing the statewide offices because of voting in three counties. Virtually the entire state went for Simon with the exception of Oakland, San Francisco, and Los Angeles counties.

1998 results
From the standpoint of the number of counties taken, Simon did better than Lungren (though the popular vote was much different).

Simon did a lot better than people anticipated. I'm already thinking about 2004 - anyone think he might have a chance against DiFi? Boxer will be up for reelection in 2004.
Feinstein was reelected in 2000 (challenged by Tom Campbell), and her term will come up again in 2006.

Wow - I guess that race was so insignificant that I'd completely forgotten about it.
Even better!!! I think the cutie (in a nerdy sort of way) Simon would be a very attractive candidate against the shrieking and strident Boxer.

That's fine rainfish, stay in gloomy, rainy, wet, icy, Washington and battle your own liberals. As you have many and have your fight cut out for you, as we do here in Cal.
Good luck, and keep that umbrella handy and tire chains at the ready.

Your in Detroit aren't you?

Whoops, I see you've posted the numbers already: 2002: .... Davis got 3,141,349, which is far less than he or Lungren got in 1998. 1998: Lungren got 3,216,749.
Amazing! Yet the RATS are claiming a mandate because they swept every statewide office by about five points.

Even if Riordan was the GOP nominee, much of Davis' war chest was already raised by March. The additional diverted cash to California was obviously not enough to make the margin comfortable. So, it seems that the Dems diverted resources to Gray Davis from funding the many house races and Senate races. One wonders what the reason is for their prioritization of Calif. politics ahead of national politics.
Someone must be scared. I wonder why.

1. KGO is off target. Davis runs for Prez. If he wins, Bustamante runs as incumbent in 2006.
2. LACounty- Feds are correct. No bail out is needed. LA County is sitting on 700 MILLION dollars of tobacco settlement money. Where is it?

Exactly, a Pyhrric victory, hehe. The plan is now to watch it backfire and pick up the pieces in '06. No matter how good the national scene does I feel these socialists will find some way to screw things up.

Well, let's look at this analytically using the Ben Franklin method of decision making
I was disgusted by:
A)the utter corruption of Davis
B)his hysterical response to the energy crisis,
C) the Democrat political rally that masqueraded as a memorial for Paul Wellstone
I:
A) am a fiscal conservative,
B) place a high value on morals
C) family values
D)personal honor,
E)believe in personal responsibility
F) am pro-gun
G) reserve my highest admiration for military veterans
On the other hand,
I am:
A) an agnostic,
B) believe my own view of morality is a personal choice
C)also pro-choice in the first three months and very
D)pro-science.
By my count, the score is 10 to 4 (I gave you the "pro-science" thing even though science itself cries out in favor of the existence of God).
The questioin is: What would Ben do?
