Illinois, Pennsylvania and Michigan are all fiscal disaster areas. Let the demorats have them. What do they do when the state has a deficit? That's right, raise taxes and increase spending. Once those rat states get a taste of what they had escaped in the late 80's and early 90's, they will beg for a pubbie government again. I say let the rats make their own rope in those states (and Commiefornia for that matter) and as the rest of the nation recovers from the recession and they continue to decline, it will be a huge benefit for the GOP. My fear is that Ed Rendell will become the head of the DNC soon. He's more hardball than Carville or Klintoon and would be a tough cookie to deal with.

This is perhaps the biggest and most meaningful GOP victory since Reagan....

1) The Supreme Court, need I say more.

2) Bush's federal judgeships will now proceed!

3) The Dems were repudiated in ssuch a sweet way: McCauliffe should resign which lessons the Clintoon influence on the National Dem Party and hopefully sinks Hitlery's future aspirations.

4) One of the best things: Mondale loses proving that dancing on the grave of a dead fellow Deomcrat and having Klintoon smiling and laughing during the memorial is simply too much for the electorate to stomach. Congrats to Minnesota!

5) The best job in the world? I'd say that goes to the person who gets to throw Dashole out of his office and move him and Jeffords into the broom cloest in the basement.

6) Lousenberg?? Sheesh, this geezer is too old to even take Dem orders. He'll spend his time drooling ath the D.C. steakhouses.

7) Saxby Chambliss over Cleland, that's a big one right up there with Sununu winning in N.H.

NOW, Bush and Congress have two years to prove that they deserve this. Someone should tell the future Senate Majority leader that we are not sharing power, we're moving forward with the many things the Dems have stalled.

We don't have the time to wait to get rid of hillary, we are right now in the battle and in the trenches and the war has just begun.

We have to remember that although we won many elections, very few of them were by wide margins. The people are split almost 50/50. We have to win their hearts and minds, and we have to do it through the national media that would rather the republican party never existed.

Above all, we have to keep our heads above water and swim toward our goals. Or as Glenn Beck said on his show this morning, we have won the championship game, but the Super Bowl starts today.

Hildebeast has dibs on the broom closet. It doubles as a parking space for her.

Oh you're so right...problem is, the media is so prejudice and bias towards anything conservative or republican...I think if we stood on our heads, we couldn't make them happy...

Guarantee, the RATS are gonna be reorganizing big time!

Pigs are winging it - I agree with James Carville. Relentless demonization of opponents is Politics Lite - it is mistermed "going on the offensive" - it is actually a defensive technique politically, much more suited to incumbency than to gaining office. You can't really gain ground that way, your hope is to force your opponents to lose it.

I read repeatedly on DU last evening (amongst the truly delicious "lamentation of the women" that went on) the asseveration that the Dems should have pounded on "the economy, the economy, the economy." Well, they did after a fashion, but it was purely derogatory - I asked a Dem friend what she would do and all she could come up with was "well, I certainly wouldn't give a tax break to the wealthiest 1%." Then she went off on the obligatory rant about warmongering, mean-spiritedness, etc, etc - when I brought her up short by repeating the question she looked at me as if I'd said something really nasty. It wasn't, actually, all I'd said was "that isn't a program, it's the absence of one. What would you do?"

That, in a nutshell, was what was wrong with Democrats2002 - what the radicals insisted was "staking out our territory" was, in fact, a redefinition of the party in purely negative terms - they're NOT the Republicans in this or that regard, but who the heck are they? Again, that's fine if you're an incumbent, and if you're not it fails just as resoundingly as Dems2002 did last night.

I'm hoping what they take out of it is a sense that they must radicalize in order to define themselves. That's what the adolescent wing of the party, the college-age enthusiasts, the superannuated 60s antiwar types, the Clintons and McAuliffes, want to do. It will certainly solidify and energize their supporters - all 20% of the voting population of them.

As a loyal liberal Democrat (gasp!), I can tell you that most of my like-minded friends are screaming for the heads of Daschle, Gephardt, and McAuliffe right now. We as a party played the rearguard strategy of going along with all of Shrub's war initiatives in order to downplay them and emphasize our own issues, except we forgot to emphasize our own issues. We came across as "Republicans lite", and why vote for a Republican lite when you can vote for the real thing? It's really just sickening and depressing.

We simply offered no opposition, despite having tons of ammo with the economy, Enron, Halliburton, tax cuts for the wealthy, etc. etc. etc. All the political ads I saw from Dems were something like "I'm kind of a middle of the road guy, but my opponent eats babies for breakfast."

We handed you guys these elections, and you took them. Good job. Now we just have to find someone with a spine (a la Carter or Clinton) to lead us back to the promised land in '04.

Woohoo, Sinkspur! What a victory! The best thing the Democratic Party could do would be to totally get rid of every single scrap of anything related to the Clinton machine - Bill, Hillary, Carville, Begala, Reno, all of them! But, hey, I won't tell them if you won't. This is just a new beginning on what started with Reagan, continued in 1994, and in 2000, and now proceeds. America has a new beginning - so Let's Roll!

I think you just hit the key phrase in regards to the "rats reorganizing", as opposed to the repubs; who have never been organized. We have a long road ahead of us.

I'm as excited as anyone with the Republican victory, but let's not forget that Traitor Lott will be in control of the Senate, making his backroom deals and selling out conservatives at every opportunity.

Maybe he should be dumped.

I've been hearing the same thing from Democrats all over. Sorry, you are wrong. You have the analysis exactly backwards. The Democrats weren't rejected for not standing up and being too accomodating, they were rejected for being obstructionist, disloyal and cheats. Peole are sick of it. You want to win elections? Try reforming the moral standards of your party.
