I guess South Dakotans like socialists to bring home the bacon in Congress. Though you have to wonder how much Timmy Johnson would bring for them with the Democrats in the political wilderness.

Oh, I see the number of precincts counted out of the total.
With the change in numbers, what are the precincts left?

*sigh*
I really hate the SOB's.
To: ambrose
Let's hope Daschle's home county is as sick of him as we are. I don't want to have stayed up all night to watch the GOP lose this state!

Very bad news........looks like this one is the Dems to keep.

I wouldn't make a concession speech just yet. If Thune's lead drops under 1,000 votes there will be a recount and the GOP isn't going to concede the seat without a fight. Its not over yet in SD.
To: ambrose
These are not useful numbers without also stating the percent of the vote now counted. Last figures on CNN showed Thune with a lead of 2,391, with 95% counted. The remaining 5% amounted to about 10,000 votes. So at that point, Johnson had to take 62.5% of the remaining votes to come up to a tie. If your last figure of a Thune lead of 1,400 is with, say, 97% of the votes counted, then Johnson would need 61.7% of the remaining votes to tie Thune. He's not going to get that level of support from the remaining precincts.
More information, please, so we don't have to keep checking CNN.

The 2 major counties which have unreported precincts are Davison (14 precincts unreported) and Shannon (6 precincts unreported). The precincts which have reported in Davison county show 50-49 in favor of Johnson. The precincts which have reported in Shannon county show 91-9 (yes, that's 91% to 9%) in favor of Johnson. This race is going to get tighter.

27 precincts left to go? They just have to make sure each one has Johnson 100 votes ahead of Thune before they finalize their vote counts now.
They know the drill.

The dead voters often get to the polls very late.
