On the Haik Terrell/Landreau race, remember that this is (probably) going to be the last race where outside ads will be allowed to air...should be a fun ride

Mondale: "I may ramble just a bit."

He called Norm and wished him and Laurie the best and that Senator is a great job.

Mondale very gracious in defeat. Takes "full responsibility" for the defeat. Urging everyone to forgive and move on.

Why can't it be that more people have concession speeches like that...respectful and dignified?

Even Fox (didn't catch who it was) contrasted Mondale's speech with McAuliffe just now - used the term "sore loser".....different caliber of men.

With only 13 precincts remaining, Thune leads by 1364 votes. There are still six Indian reservation precincts left. IMHO these will be enough to put Johnson over the top by about 500 votes.

You're GOOD!

With 100% reporting

Johnson incumbent) 167,481 50%
Thune 166,954 49%

527 votes

FOX just reported Thune not ready to concede! Not sure if it's good to fight this one or not, but it could get interesting!

He need to verify the eligability of each person from those out of proportion countys. They also need to check for multiple votes from one person. If this country does not start cracking down on vote fraud then it will only get far worse.

From your lips to the voters' ears. It would be sweet to get rid of her and Feinstein (or is it Boxer in '04) in one fell swoop.

This is total BS with the judge keeping the polls open late. If there is a ballot shortage, they can close the line to vote at normal closing hours and let them vote when the ballots arrive.

Excellent point! I'd be willing to vote for you to be a judge, but you're obviously too intelligent to make the cut to get on the ballot. Hopefully the administration and Ashcroft were prepared for this tactic. If the Senate or Gov. race ends up extremely tight, is it possible that the USSC could determine that irreparable harm has been done, throw out the results, and order a new election in AR?

I must confess ignorance about the outcome of the race, but I sincerely doubt that 1) the Administration would take action (as it would jeopardize the "new tone"); and, 2) SCOTUS would take the case (I think they've chickened out in the wake of Bush v. Gore and have effectively surrendered interpretation and whimsical rewrite of this country's election laws to the DemonRats).

70% of Oregon vote counted...

Doesn't Oregon mail in ballots? Why is it taking them so long to get results out? Do they have to hand-count all ballots?
