Not yet she hasn't. Behind as of now by 2,700 votes with just absentee left. (CNN got their numbers off of Channel 7's results which had the numbers (sadly) ass-backwards!)

Can you believe what's going on over at D.U.? Have you ever read such "colorful language" in your life?? It's like the underbelly of the left has been exposed for all the world to see!

Even if we got out heads handed to us, I can't see Freepers using the kind of language they are. Tacky, tacky, tacky.

"Brit just said some Dem pollster has called Daschle and told him there was no way Carnahan could catch up at this point."

That just means it is time to fire up the lawyers. heh. :)

I'm too tired and occupied with other things to offer an analysis, but I think it has a lot to due with the elements of Federalism built into our Constitution. The significance of controlling the Presidency has been demonstrated in the last two years, but the importance of the fact that the President is elected, essentially, by the States, and by the people only indirectly, was demontrated to us all in the 2000 election.
When you're rested, give me a ping on this. I understand from you that federalism demands the two-party structure in that further divisions of power would be counter-productive in the two-tiered Congress and to pull weight on presidential elections. But this is not the case in other countries, even those that mimic the U.S. model.

I certainly agree that the parliamentary system fosters stupid factionalism. I'm not sure that this leads to the opposite, given the federalist/ representative system. But perhaps.

Either way, it's a blessing.

You are fascinated by me aren't you, you seem to follow me around a some. Polls? ROFL uh huh, you mean those polls that say 90% of Americans want something done about immigration?

We will have to wait a couple of years to see who is full of what won't we. If a Republican controlled government blows this opportunity that's been handed to them, I feel sorry for them in 2004, and have no idea where voters may wander off to then. Hopefully they will do a great job and make us all proud, hopefully they will do things that promote a conservative agenda. All that remains to be seen, they have the ball now and tonight is for celebration.

Contrary to what someone posted, St. Louis is not all in yet (at least if you are basing that on statewide 96% reporting). Among the 4% MO precincts still outstanding are 16% of the St. Louis precincts.

A surprisingly bad night for Republicans in Tennessee. We maintain the Senate seat (currently Republican - stays Republican), lose the Governor's seat (currently Republican) to the Dems and lose one Congressional seat (currently Republican) to the Dems. Sad night. Al Gore will take the credit but it was a handful of RINOs who did us in.

LB means barely leading, and too close to call. L means a likely win by the party with a R or D in front of it. The GOP looks to have gained at least probably 6 seats, after winning the runoff in LA-5, plus it is in the hunt still for 4 other seats. Who was it who predicted a 5-10 seat gain? My odds sheet looked pretty good no? :)
