CNN REPORTING ONLY 33% OF BALLOTS HAVE EVEN ARRIVED IN MN. Lines were so long that people were still voting at 11 pm Eastern (no, no fraud, they arrived on time). It's gonna be a while.

I am using CNN mostly, then hitting the county breakdowns there. KC is fully in for MO, but 16% of St. Louis city is still out.

This is precisely WHY Libertarians will NEVER win anything, get what they want, and are THE ENEMY WITHIN THE CONSERVATIVE MOVEMENT " .

What -- because they vote for the candidates they prefer? Gosh, what horrible people...

You aren't Conservative, don't understand politics, and are dogs in the manger, who revel in being miserable and want everyone else to be too.

Okay, that's the *third* knee-jerk anti-libertarian who has managed to go off in a wildly hilarious rant which completely misses what I actually wrote. Libertarians can often get a little loony, but honestly, nothing tops a conservative who is rabidly anti-libertarian -- their entire higher brain functions shut down and they start frothing at the mouth.

For the third time, I voted straight-ticket Republican tonight. What a shock that must be to your preconceptions.

So sit down, take deep breaths, go back and reread what I *ACTUALLY* wrote (as opposed to your "anything written about libertarians must be propaganda by the evil dogs in mangers so I'll interpret it accordingly" method), and try again.

All I said was that libertarians vote the way they do for the same reason everyone else does -- to try to affect what issues get addressed and how. Truly, what bastards they are, eh?

For this, I've gotten three (count 'em, three -- and the night is still young) rants in return, every one of them accusing me of being one o' them devil libertarians who swill drugs, drink the blood of puppies, and dare to not vote for Republicans. The horrors!

For pete's sake, people, get a *grip*. I'm sorry if pointing out voting dynamics offends you so much. Sheesh.

In a nutshell, when Dems win, that only energizes Republicans; it doesn't make us want to go over to the ENEMY WITHIN and vote Libertarian.

I didn't say that it would. You might want to work on that "reading comprehension" thing you must have heard about.

Frankly, it makes you guys a hated, reviled, and laothsome group.

Who me? I voted Republican. Was I not supposed to?

Nopardons, how does that shoe taste, anyway?

This is no way to win friends and influence anyone.

Neither is attacking people for no damned good reason, son.

The Libertarian Party is the home for juveneiles, cases of arrested developement, pro dopers, who couldn't survive two months, under a real LP run nation.

As opposed to those conservatives who call names, go on rants, boldface everything (and capitalize the rest), and attack people just for explaining why some people choose to vote differently than we do?

Speaking of "arrested development"...

Popular government is a strange beast. We've saddled it with a Constitution, which gives it rules. We've also managed it throught the two-party system, an anomoly in modern democracy, and a God-given blessing

I'm too tired and occupied with other things to offer an analysis, but I think it has a lot to due with the elements of Federalism built into our Constitution. The significance of controlling the Presidency has been demonstrated in the last two years, but the importance of the fact that the President is elected, essentially, by the States, and by the people only indirectly, was demontrated to us all in the 2000 election.

YESSSS!!!!

I think this is the most amazing election I've ever seen. To gain the Senate and hold the House, in a mid-term election during uncertain economic times and in SPITE of all the Dem voter fraud, is a tremdous achievement for Republicans!

Simon will lose. Early votes tend to be GOP in California. Davis will win by 5% minimum.

Don't even talk like that.

FWIW, Davis was ahead at the begining, and I know there are still lots of Simon votes out there. Fresno County has reported nearly all their precincts locally, heavily for Simon, but the state totals don't reflect them all yet.

"I'm not a Bush bot. I'm someone who votes Republican and expects to see some action from them. Independents, such as myself, can give and we can take away. Unless there are some big strides towards controlling our borders, deporting illegals, and zero immigration and visas to terrorist nations, my vote will go to Tancredo as a write in in 2004."

Amen sister!

One of the local ABQ stations said that even with early votes and absentees it didn't look like Heather Wilson would win.

Even Denny Hastert said (on Fox) that there was a race in NM that wasn't going his way.

I think CNN has it wrong too, but I still have my fingers crossed.
