Have your say, vote today.

The leftists are the masters at getting out the vote, that's the only way they win elections because they would always lose if all they had was the strength of their policies. Take a Republican cousin, or a neighbor or a friend who needs a ride to the polls. Beat the Democrats at their own game. If the Republicans were half as good at getting out the vote as are the Democrats, the Democrats would never win another election.

BTTT.

Also, if you're not eligible to vote this time, then please take the time to go and register for the next election. Public apathy and uninformed voters are the weak links in a representative republic.

It is a very important civic duty to vote.

You will be deciding who will, for the next few years, be making our laws and, for years afterward, be making our license plates.

MAGAZINE SHOCK: REPUBLICANS WILL HOLD CONGRESS

In for a penny - in for a pound (Just voted early in Nevada, heavy turnout)

Memphis

I thought earlier this week when I saw the Corker campaign ad (above) about Harold Ford that it was devastating. Offhand, I can't think of a more devastating campaign ad that I have ever seen based on simple statements of facts. The ad seems to have rattled Harold Ford and had something to do with the apparent desperation on his part that Glenn Reynolds puzzles over (with several video links) here. Ford refers to the ad in the second video news clip posted here (Ford says the ad criticizes his appearance, while in fact the ad says he looks good on television, i.e., it implies that he is glib), and Hugh Hewitt comments on the video news clip here.

JOHN adds: If you haven't already seen it, this is the local news coverage of Ford's bizarre attempt to crash Corker's press conference. The wheels appear to be coming off the Ford campaign:

CNN: Broken Government

CNN, fresh from their success with a mujahideen snuff film showing US soldiers being killed, is now airing a week-long special called “Broken Government.” I just listened to host Jack Cafferty uncork an astounding moonbat rant about “torture” and “violation of civil rights” that would not have been out of place at Daily Kos or firedoglake, leading to a flat pronouncement that the Bush government has done more to harm the US than Al Qaeda.

I couldn’t stomach any more of it, but we should notice that CNN has apparently dropped all pretense at fairness and is going for broke in this election season.   link: 142 comments

" CNN is trying to compete, not with FOX News for viewers, but with DailyKos.""Cafferty read a long list of emails from obvious moonbats. Bush is a war criminal, Bush is a nazi, Bush ate my homework, Bush screwed my wife and Bush will end democracy as we know it..."...Cafferty probably wrote them all...

There is a very very disturbing convergence of nasty factors coming up, and the media is part of it.
The past year especially has been a continuously rising stoking of hate and intolerance for allowing the President to complete his lawful, fairly gained office. These people cannot wait for the normal political process to run itself out? President Bush has just two more years, but the Left acts like he is President for Life and a coup is necessary to unseat him. It's very very disturbing. The popular Left mantra of assassination or impeachment is very evil, and they are stoking it with hysterical charges: stole the election, illegitimate president, illegal war, war crimes ... blah blah ad nausuem, plus the added impeachment.
This is preparation for what?

http://drsanity.blogspot.com/2006/10/political-left-and-their-totalitarian.html

THE POLITICAL LEFT AND THEIR TOTALITARIAN DREAMS

When I wrote this post about the current, overt manipulation of news, I didn't imagine that this information would be coming out, which, if true, shows the levels to which the political left and the Democrats have been willing to sink to achieve their ideological agenda:  Hot Air quotes this little tidbit: Stickynotes and ajacksonian and Clarice Feldman each have more to say about this information. Good grief, they have been acting out this drama for over half a century now, and they've got the "good guys" and the "bad guys" clearly identified in their own minds it seems. And the U.S. has NEVER been the "good guy" from their point of view. And yet, psychologically, they have managed to deceive themselves into thinking that what they are doing is for the "good" of the country. That their behavior is actually "patriotic". That their machinations are selfless and necessary in order to "protect" this country -- from what they have always perceived as the "true" evil.

Here is a sweet little piece that gives Americans just a hint of what is to come, should they vote the wrong way in November--i.e., if for some unimaginable reason not enough Democrats are voted into office:  The individual who wrote this is a Ph.D. psychologist; and yet is so wrapped up in the hysteria of the neo-marxist drama , that she is completely unable to appreciate the psychological projection--and unbelievable irony--of her words; let alone the paranoia.

UPDATE: Sigmund, Carl & Alfred remind us about other well-known Democrats and their questionable interactions with enemies of the US, and then asks a very pertinent question:

If Democrat luminaries such as Teddy Kennedy, Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, et al, had no trouble looking outside the US for political help and campaugn money, why on earth should we not assume that some Dems are dealing with Iran, Syria, Al Qaeda, Hizbollah and Hamas, to further their political aims and ambitions?

Read it all. And check out Sister Toldjah, Riehl World View and Blue Crab Boulevard while you are at it.

Democrats Leading Many Pivotal Races--I don't believe a word of this, but I hope they keep it up along with all the Pelosi stuff as well.... this will ensure our side will turn out in droves.

Funniest Headline EVER!

I read this headline and almost died laughing:

GOP Losses Could Spark Partisan Warfare

Because clearly we've been living through an era of sweetness and light as far as politics and political theater are concerned. There have been no partisan snipings, no "scorched earth" policies over the past 6 years.

Of course, from what we're seeing elsewhere, another headline could be quickly written: Dem Losses Could Spark Limited Rioting.

You see, there are some paranoid types on the left who are predicting nothing less than a Bush Administration declaration of Marial Law. Sister Toldjah posts some gorgeous hysteria/paranoia from one Lyn Lear Davis, Beverly Hills Matron type:

When I asked Gore Vidal at dinner why the White House seemed so serene and at ease about the vote, he replied that, this time around, the Bush-Cheney henchmen could simply call on martial law. He glumly noted that we are so far down the road toward totalitarianism that, even if Democrats do win back the Congress, it would take at least two generations before the last six years of damage to the nation could be reversed. Gore frankly despaired that any amount of time could ever return the country to where and what it previously was. This prediction left me reaching for some Fernet Branca.

I doubt this woman realizes that she sounds like a perfect parody of the deluded, imaginative, name-dropping limo liberal. Too damn funny. But this is the best part. Lyn Lear Davis writes:

But whether it is hubris, loony tunes, or both, the White House’s freakish calm about the elections makes me as nervous as the hell we seem to be headed for. Therefore we should all be on alert. If for whatever reason we don’t win back Congress in November the only real answer will be to take to the streets.

Blue Crab Boulevard suspects any taking it to the streets will likely be done by the help.  O.M.G. This is a joke, right? Lyn Davis Lear, wife of television producer Norman Lear has some analysis of the nation and what should be done if the Democrats don't take control of the whole world and buy everyone a pony in November. Others: Sister Toldjah, Riehl World View, Blogs For Bush, The New Editor, Right Wing News, "This is a classic case of projection. “Take to the streets” because they don’t like who the people elect?"

The truth is, there are so many stories being floated by the press right now, "The Dems have it in the bag," "The deal isn't closed," "Voter fraud may be an issue," (yes, I believe that's quite true, and Gateway Pundit is the genius at keeping track of it, and not just in St. Louis. Voter fraud does seem to be a predominantly leftish proclivity)

The New York Sun reviews the possible ascension of John Conyers to the chair of the House Judiciary Committee and its potential for impeachment mischief. Despite demurrals from Nancy Pelosi, Conyers has continued to sharpen his pencils in preparation for an opportunity to bring charges against George Bush, and a Democratic majority would provide that opening: In the summer of 2005, Conyers held hearings in an unused Judiciary conference room with some of his fellow Democrats to hear testimony for Bush's impeachment. Election: Dinner with DeWine

Dewine_dinner_003_2

Congresswoman Sue Kelly, Pamela, and Senator Mike DeWine

It's not so much that keeping control of the House and the Senate is critical for Republicans, it is critical to Americans, to lovers of liberty, to fighting the war on the Global Jihad.

That said I am supporting candidates I have had issues with in the past, but next to their democratic opponents are positively golden. I had a dinner this evening with Senator Mike DeWine currently in a dogfight with Democratic, wife beating challenger Sherrod Brown of Avon, (he didn't call him that. I did - check out his divorce papers.)

I admire DeWine's record on a great many critical issues, particularly his unwaivering support of Israel and the war on terror. He has been a Senate leader in the fight against AIDS worldwide and drafted several bills to combat unfair Chinese trade practices.

But I am most moved by his dedication to getting  the Nazi War Crimes Disclosure Act passed. Passage of this legislation lifted  the last remaining veils of secrecy on one of the darkest periods in human history.   The Nazi War Crimes Disclosure Act represented  the culmination of work begun in the last Congress to release U.S. Government-held records of Nazi war criminals, the Nazi Holocaust, and the trafficking of Nazi-held assets. That information revealed how much earlier America knew of the German atrocities and the collusion between the American government and ex-Nazis after the war. The CIA and Nazi war criminals.

OTOH, DeWine was a member of the Senate's "Gang of 14" that  brokered  deasl to approve President Bush's nominees to the U.S. Supreme Court and killed the Republican initiative to strip Democrats of the power to filibuster confirmations. I never liked the Gang of 14 and the power they wielded. They compromised important Republican positions and I asked him about it.....he responds in this VLOG

The Dems are throwing a ton of money in this race and DeWine is in the political fight of his life. And having the opportunity TO sit and listen to this man, it's a damn shame. Here is a thoughtful, deliberate, rational man. Quiet but effective. Steak vs. sizzle.

Brown on the other hand is a far left liberal and has made the fight all about Bush.  This  race has become a hot point and DeWine is taking enormous heat for Bush's low ratings in that state (did anyone really think the war on Islam was going to be easy?)

Brown echoes the talking point that seemingly has been fed to every other Democratic congressional candidate this fall - that his or her opponent is a "rubber stamp" for President Bush. This simple-minded toting up of roll-call votes is nonsense. You could just as easily - and unfairly - argue that Brown is a rubber stamp for Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi. More here

Dealbreaker 1 -- No-Show Sherrod
Dealbreaker 2 -- Taxes

Mine on the Divorce and Aftermath
Sherrod Brown: Stirring the, uh, Pot (and More) (drug use in his office when he was Sec. of State, 1982-1990, and how he ignored it)

Here DeWine speaks of the Saudis and their funding of terror and wahhabism, "they've made a deal with the devil."

If you have a few bucks, send him some money. Soros is throwing his black market money around Ohio - don't let it change the outcome of this critical race.

A delightful surprise was meeting with Congresswoman Sue Kelly19th District New York, what a woman! A warrior in the war on Islamic jihad. She had a commanding lead over her opponent  until Soros got involved and started funding her opponent in large amounts. She is in the unfortunate position of living down the road from George Soros (wherever there is good, you'll find that Nazi loving bastard scheming to destroy it.)  Unbelievable.

As vice chair of the House Financial Services Committee and head of the Subcommittee on Oversight & Investigations, Congresswoman Sue Kelly has taken a leadership role in U.S. efforts to shut down terrorism funding networks around the world.

The fight against terrorist financing goes hand-in-hand with the War on Terror. Before carrying out attacks, terrorists need funds for housing, recruitment, training, supplies, weapons, and travel. Terrorists transmit these funds across the globe through a wide variety of alternative funding systems that range from charities to commonplace criminal activity such as drug peddling and illegal cigarette sales. ;"We must do everything we possibly can to strip terrorists of their financial resources," Kelly says. While the U.S. and our allies have frozen millions of dollars in terrorist funds since 9/11, much work still lies ahead. Terrorists continue to successfully distribute their blood money, in some cases through accounts in our own financial institutions. Congresswoman Kelly founded the bipartisan Congressional Anti-Terrorist Financing Task Force in 2004 to bring a more centralizing focus on U.S. efforts against terrorist financing. Kelly remains at the forefront of Congressional efforts to eradicate terrorist financing. "We must keep pace with evil terrorist financiers who have cunning and intricate ways to hide their money and transmit their funds to carry out terrorist attacks," Kelly says. "By stopping the flow of terrorist money, we can lessen the threat of terrorism to our communities."

She has spent time in the House of Saud .............. and believes that we must work for reform with King Abdullah. She believes we an work with him. And time is of the essence-, Abdullah is sick and his successors are violent, hardcore. - I have less hope but clearly she iis fighting the great fight. Her priorities are what every member of Congress ought to be.

DeWine speaks to the difference between the Republican and Democrat approaches to fighting the war on Islamic terror. The biggest concern in that room was a nuclear Iran and what could/would be done about it. The upset is the impending nuclear arms race but I say, if our enemies are going to have nukes, then we must give them to our friends.

I believe the Republicans are going to keep the House and the Senate and I've said that all along but it is crucial we get out the vote.

VOTE LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT, BECAUSE IT DOES.

It's The Economy, Stupid MSM

Investor's Business Daily took the mainstream media to task over its coverage of the economy in its editorial yesterday, making the case that media outlets have a political bias against Republicans. Despite an economic boom that has created 6.6 million jobs, increased federal tax revenues, and tamed inflation while generating strong growth, the media has relentlessly focused its coverage on negative, anecdotal stories (via Newsbeat1):  Have the media learned anything? Apparently not. Despite 36 straight months of expansion, an unemployment rate of 4.6%, and inflation at an annual projected rate of 2.4%, the media still can't bring themselves to report on a Republican economy honestly. Business & Media Institute found that TV networks gave twice as much airtime to negative stories as positive ones (62% - 31%). Bad news was twice as likely to get full-length treatment as well.

No industry can be that incompetent by accident. There has been a deliberate attempt to deceive people through anecdotal coverage in a period where all of the economic indicators have shown remarkable and broad growth. IBD warns its readers that the TV networks, at the least, have conducted a propaganda operation, one with a years-old pedigree, and that investors should disregard the economic "journalism" of their news divisions. Voters would be well advised to heed that warning as well.
