Voted early this morning - NO ON THE SALES TAX HIKE!!!! - for our Great Senator John Warner (sorry MUD, I love him) and for Scott Tate for Congress against the scumbag Rat Jim Moran. My Democrat husband, who used to be a broken glass Moran voter, told me he could not vote for Moran this time!!! Hope this is a trend! Good turnout this morning in our precinct, which is the most Republican in the People's Republic of Alexandria. Our PTA Bake Sale is going very well!
Praying for a Bob Ehrlich victory in Maryland tonight!!!

Voted for Jeb and every other Republican on the ballot. Also had the joy of voting to dump two Florida Supreme Court justices.
I have limited confidence in optical scanners. Optical scanners are as safe as the programmers who count the votes. These are not ATM machines, not run by banks with reputations to uphold and customers to fear. NO, these are machines run in rooms that have signs that read "turn off your cell phones and beepers." What does that mean? One person can forget their cell phone and move 500 votes to a Democrat?

Do you think the sales tax issue will bring out the GOP voters?

I was the FIRST one two vote at my local polling place. Fortunetly I did not have to crawl through broken glass to cast my vote to FIRE GRAY DAVIS!
To: goosie
I voted straight "R" in Northwest Florida. No problems, then waved a Jeb sign in front of the polling place for about an hour.

metro Atlanta heavy turnout is a disaster for the GOP, isn't it?Not necessarily. In past elections, heavier turnout was concentrated in urban or rural districts, which is where the swing vote came in. From what I've seen and heard, turnout here is heavy every-freakin'-where.
Part of it is tied to the novelty of the new voting machines, but a lot of it is tied directly to the three very vindictive races here: the 11th Congressional District is a new district up the western side of the state, running for more than 130 miles from Rome in the north down to Columbus in the south, and from the state line eastward to the Atlanta city limits.
Had Bob Barr not moved from his Mableton home, he would have had a fairly easy shot in that district. The new district has former liquor distributor Roger Kahn (D) who pretends to be a farmer to try to get votes against Marietta doctor and state legislator Phil Gingrey (R).
The Sonny Perdue-Roy Barnes gubernatorial race has gotten even nastier in the last week and a half, with Barnes tossing out his race-baiting ad, and Perdue using a statement from Barnes in a televised debate that implied that it was OK if children died in state custody in a controversial TV ad.
The Chambliss-Cleland Senate race is heating up as well, with a war of words going back and forth with each side calling the other liar.
It ain't pretty, but it certainly gets out the votes.

There were a TON of amendments - most of them not constitutional issues anyway, so I opposed almost all.
Having voted last time in WA state and this time in FL (due to move), the biggest difference I can see it turnout. Not sure what it's like historically here in FL, but anything would be better than WA on that count. I couldn't believe how many people were at the polling place. I'm so used to wandering in my old WA precinct and seeing no one but the volunteers - most of whom were old ladies doing their knitting.

My husband and I voted at 6:45 am here in North Phoenix, AZ and put in our Republican votes for Matt Salmon and company! We have the digital counter on our ballot boxes and I was #30 already! I heard one man say we had already exceeded the total people who voted in the primary and this was only the first hour of voting!!!

Just voted in Sacramento CA at 7:30. Voted for Simon and all Republican's on ballot and a write in for Yolanda Knaak for State Senator against Democrat Debra Ortiz. I don't know why Knaak wasn't on the ballot. GO SIMON!!

I just finished voting for Dole here in NC. I have to tell you...if you took the average age of the voters I saw at the polling place and subtracted 100 I bet you I'd still be the youngest person there!
As a side note, I've been asking my fellow students if they were going to vote and I've heard only one or two who actually said yes. Remarkable.

When I was imprisoned in Prince George's County, Peoples' Republik of Maryland, we used these absolutely
antique mechanical voting machines. Neighboring Howard and Montgomery counties used fairly modern electronic machines. Baltimore City, of course, uses something farily ethereal; the dead are able to operate the machines there.
What are you voting with, a PC?

metro Atlanta heavy turnout is a disaster for the GOP, isn't it? No, it depends where in Atlanta... downtown = bad, suburban ring = excellent.

"...our Great Senator John Warner (sorry MUD, I love him)" Well, my FRiend, may this be Warner's last six-year term and may he gracefully bow out in 2008 to run fer Governor of the Great State of Virginia before riding off into the Blue Ridge Mountains to live happily-ever-after as a learned Elder Statesman fer the VA GOP.
Other than that, I like yer choices...MUD

I can now add my Hubby and Son to the "I got out and voted, and I voted REPUBLICAN!" list.
I have to add how proud we are of 21 year old son. From the time he was knee high, we took him with us to vote. He was always excited about the process, inquisitive about the candidates, and was allowed to go into the booth with us and see how it worked firsthand. When he turned 18, one of the first things he did was register to vote. The look on his face when he proudly went in and out the voter booth, (voted GWB), as an adult was priceless! We're not sure what happened to our 19 year old daughter yet, she's just not interested. But we are holding out hope!
