Two votes straight Republican ticket in the 13th district of Georgia. There were about 40 people when we got there and about 70 when we left with more streaming in through the rain. The turnout was about what we had in the 2000 election and my front yard is starting to flood! I know of at least 7 more people that are going to put up Republican ballots and 1 dimwit that isn't going to vote today!

Straight Republican in NC!

Voter #131, Big D. No lines, not crowded, no chads, ballots easy to read, attendants very helpful.

Just voted on the Upper East Side of ultra-liberal Manhattan.
I always vote at about the same time of day. This year, turnout was a good bit higher than for last year's mayoral election, but far lower than for the 2000 presidential election (where the turnout was enormous, but < grief > everyone voted in record numbers for the wrong people < /grief >).
What that will mean in terms of the races, I have no idea.

metro Atlanta heavy turnout is a disaster for the GOP, isn't it?

I know. That's the only reason I haven't complained and gotten my name taken off the lists.

All right Penna. FReepers. Normally, I vote with the wife in the late afternoon (5:30 to 6:00 pm), and in the off year elections, I average somewhere around the 240th voter in my district (which is predominantly Republican.) This year, the wife and I voted at 8:30 this morning and we were voter numbers 103 and 104. So
.either the polls are normally completely empty from 9am to 5pm (which I doubt) or the Republicans are turning out to vote in this off year. Thats encouraging!

you just type the name. Obviously depends on what part of Virginia... Fairfax Co. has electronic pushbutton machines; write-ins go on a paper tape that hides behind a plastic door. Press the "write-in" button and the door opens. They have a pen on a string attached to the machine.

Voted early (absentee) straight Republican ticket. That way, if I died before the election, I still wanted my vote to count!I did the same thing for the same reason.

Just got back. Voted for every Republican that was available.

Just did the deed, my poor hubby sprained his ankle but I asked him to limp in and vote, now he just wants me to leave him alone, hehe. I must say, the typical looking democrat poll workers were looking very glum. The rest of us were in high good humor.
It was pretty cute how the Republican poll worker got the conversation started, he said, "I keep my voters registration on the fridge, next to my hunting license. Everyone there must have been Republican from the response, everyone started bragging about what they have bagged so far.
My dryer broke and I sent the repair man off after making him promise to vote before the sun sets. I need to pick up a relative who is without tranportation in a little while and get him to his polling place.
All n all the day is starting out beautifully.

I know, I know....I just wanted to bump this along so I could find more readily on my comment list upon return!
Voted here for the first time in FL and polling place (at a church - no separation of church and state when it's convenient for the state, eh?) and all seemed to be orderly. Some 'politicking' going on in parking lot with mayoral candidate, but otherwise situation normal.
GO JEB!

We just finished voting against Daschle's sock puppet Tim Johnson and FOR JOHN THUNE, as well as the other Republicans on the ballot. Mrs. rhema and I just cast votes for Tim Pawlenty (governor) and Norm Coleman. (I'll give daughter rhema a ride over to vote this afternoon.) What a stain would be erased from our fair states if --when -- Coleman and Thune displace Democrats in the Senate.

I voted earlier, straight R. I was 264. This is very high turnout.
I just had a call from my husband who is a poll watcher in a predominantly black precinct and so far has no problems to report. He said that the only question he had was that for curbside voting for handicapped, etc. the machine goes out with no one watching and wondered what could be done in that case. Luckily, the judge is a Republican in that precinct.
