Well, we have come to the point where the rubber meets the road. We all have our opinions or gut feelings about what is going to happen in this election. Here is your chance to carve your opinions into stone, or at least, into FR's data base. Tomorrow, or whenever we find out the results, wouldn't it be nice to have the whole world know that you nailed it on the head?

I've picked ten races, just to make the post election math easier. Wanna play?

Hutchinson (R) - Pryor (D) Senate in Arkansas
Chambliss (R) - Cleland (D) Senate in Georgia
Coleman (R) - Mondale (D) Senate in Minnesota
Talent (R) - Carnahan (D) Senate in Missouri
Sununu (R) - Shaheen (D) Senate in New Hampshire
Dole (R) - Bowles(D) Senate in North Carolina
Thune (R) - Johnson (D) Senate in South Dakota
Simon (R) - Davis (D) Governor of California
Bush (R) - McBride (D) Governor of Florida
Ehrlich (R - Townsend (D) Governor of Maryland

OK..Ten races...how many will you get right?

No prizes in this FR contest except the bragging rights and a time/date stamp on your post url, to prove your prognostication prowess!

Here are my predictions...
Pryor (D) Senate in Arkansas
Chambliss (R) Senate in Georgia
Coleman (R) Senate in Minnesota
Talent (R) Senate in Missouri
Sununu (R) Senate in New Hampshire
Dole (R) Senate in North Carolina
Thune (R) Senate in South Dakota
Davis (D) Governor of California
Bush (R) Governor of Florida
Townsend (D) Governor of Maryland

Ok, Hope I'm wrong on about 3 of those races...And I hope my lousy record of predicting doesn't continue (I had Bush with about 375 electoral votes in 2000) .... Vote early, Vote often... :)

Olde's Election Day Predictions in bold:

Hutchinson (R) - Pryor (D) Senate in Arkansas
Chambliss (R) - Cleland (D) Senate in Georgia
Coleman (R) - Mondale (D) Senate in Minnesota
Talent (R) - Carnahan (D) Senate in Missouri
Sununu (R) - Shaheen (D) Senate in New Hampshire
Dole (R) - Bowles(D) Senate in North Carolina
Thune (R) - Johnson (D) Senate in South Dakota
Simon (R) - Davis (D) Governor of California
Bush (R) - McBride (D) Governor of Florida
Ehrlich (R) - Townsend (D) Governor of Maryland

Others:  Cornyn (R-TX), Ryan (R-IL)

Analysis:  Pollsters and pundits have misunderestimated the electorates desire for government that works to protect our vital interests in the first post-911 national election.  While neither party vigorously presented a clear and comprehensive economic and national security strategery, it's clear that the democrats not only failed to lead, but obstructed the administrations efforts across a broad legislative spectrum.

That said, today's election will not be issue oriented.  It will be "gut feeling" oriented.  I believe that a majority of voters feel comfortable with the President's performance on the economy and the war.  Since 911, the vast majority of Americans believe in their gut that the President has "gravitas" and nobody on the democrat side has been able to counter-balance his favorable's.  Moreover, republicans are lined up behind the Presidents traditional conservative principals while democrats aren't playing nice in their liberal sandbox.  The far left (Donahue) is fighting with the middle left (Chris Matthews) and conservative democrats (Breaux) are totally disgusted and virtually silent.  Therefore, I believe this President will have "coat-tails" that will help bring the close elections into the GOP camp and deliver larger-than-expected margins in races that favor republicans.  Essentially, this election will give George W. Bush the "mandate" missing in the 2000 election.

I predict BarbarBarbra Striesand gets weepy and indignant, goes before the cameras and says she will quote from As You Like It--Act II, Scene III:

"Forsooth Thou Republican craven!"
"On yonder window the light breaks"
"Sayith not I loved my Faddah"
"I have thighs that are smootheth like Buttah!"

I predict democrats will win due to massive voter fraud, incredibly stupid voters, high price lawyers and liberal judges.

"1,300,000 dogs nation-wide will vote for Democrats--and if anyone complains they will be accused of trying to "disenfranchise" Muffin."

... and, of course, they will claim they were scared away from the polls because cats were strategically placed outside of houses a couple of blocks away simply to divert them from their intended mission... :-)

Seriously, I hope we have a positive outcome today, but I have no faith at all that will be the case - after all, half of the American public (more if you believe the RATS) voted for that psychopathic tree, Algore, which means they'll vote for anyone on the RAT side, no matter who it is. Living in New Jersey, I've developed a newly found disrespect for laws. If our Supreme Court doesn't seem to have any need to follow them, why should we? The Minnesota Supreme Court has followed the NJ Supreme Court's wonderful example, and we're sure to see similar occurrances after the election. If the RATS can't win a seat, they'll legislate their way into it, secure in the knowledge that the aforementioned 50% WILL vote for them, no matter what they do or who they do it to. Since they also own the teaching system, of course the children will be taught that this a perfectly acceptable and honorable thing to do ("after all, everyone MUST have the right to vote for DemocRATS!"), thus insuring that their noble Socialist legacy will continue for generations to come.

I predict that if the RATS lose the Senate, one of the biggest loser groups will be trial lawyers.

By the time 2004 rolls around, Torte Law Reform will happen. Judges will be placed on the benches of America that will decimate frivilous law suits.
