Official: CIA Killed Al Qaeda Suspects in Yemen

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A missile fired by an unmanned CIA (news - web sites) drone hit a car believed to be carrying suspected al Qaeda members in Yemen Sunday and killed several occupants, a U.S. official said Monday.

Mon Nov 4, 5:18 PM ET A Predator Unmanned Aerial Vehicle is seen with a Hellfire-C laser guided missile under one wing in this file photo from a February 21, 2001 test flight at Nellis Airforce Base in Nevada. A missile fired by an unmanned CIA (news - web sites) drone hit a car believed to be carrying suspected al Qaeda members in Yemen November 4, 2002 and killed several occupants a U.S. official said November 5. Six alleged al Qaeda members were believed killed including a key suspect in the bombing of the USS Cole (news - web sites). While the CIA is known to operate armed Predator aircraft, it could not be confirmed if the Predator was used in this attack. (USAFMC/Reuters)

The official, who asked not to be identified, told Reuters the American military was not involved in the attack, which reports from Sanaa said killed six alleged al Qaeda members, including a key suspect in a bombing attack on the U.S. warship Cole in Aden two years ago.

"As I understand it, it was an agency drone" that conducted the weekend strike, said the U.S. official, who did not provide any details.

The Defense Department and CIA refused to comment on the incident, but Yemen's news agency reported in Sanaa that a car explosion had killed six alleged members of al Qaeda. The radical Muslin group led by fugitive Osama bin Laden (news - web sites) is blamed by Washington for the devastating attacks on America in September of last year.

The Commie News Network (CNN) are reporting that this was "delicate" and we have to be careful not to upset the people where Bin Laden's family lives.....sheeez.

By that I suspect you mean Iridium or Globalstar, both of which are being heavily subsidized (i.e., used) by DOD.

Or an Inmarsat phone like this one.

However, this is difficult to use while mobile. The antenna (which looks like the back of the screen of a laptop computer at the above URL) must be pointed at a geosynchronous satellite.

Can I buy an M? It is really hard to tell the make of the car from what Jihaddy Johnny is holding up while muttering to himself, "Jihad can be really Chitty!"

"The coincidence in timing would not be Bush's fault, but the terrorists. They wanted to blow something up right before our election, and they were stopped in the nick of time."

This is the most logical explanation.

I want these clymers to be afraid to even climb on a Camel for a ride to the oasis for some pitted dates.

They need to be afraid to start a car, truck, turn on the lights, open a door and even to use a calculator like you noted.

I want their loyal and dumb Islamakazis to wake and realize that being in the same area code with them could get you killed.

Then, when their Islamakazis sober up and start beheading their leaders and putting their heads on pikes and praying to the Great Satan for mercy, we might consider easing up sometime in the next couple of years.

In a single strike, Bush achieved more against terrorist than Clinton did in 8 full years. Sickening.

Only sickening if this were Bush's ONLY action.

"...no way for us to know whether this was politically timed..."

I do not believe that we could get these six islamist bad guys to cooperate on the timing. To suggest this is timed for tomorrow's election impact is stupid DEMONrat thinking and would just be another DEMONrat lie.

Take off your tin hat. The aspirin factory wasn't going anywhere, as opposed to a fleeting target of opportunity with no collateral damage risk.

Maybe Raytheon can develop a small fuel air explosive (big enough to flatten a vehicle like this one did) that is fueled by pig fat. This way you really amplify the effect of the kill because it prevents the Islamofascists from going to paradise.

I'm pretty sure the 'Hellfire' is made by Texas Instruments, I know the 'Harm' is.
