A 12-year-old northwest Atlanta girl stabbed her stepfather early Friday as he fought with her mother, police said. He later died.
The girl, who is the mother of a 5-month-old, got involved in the argument after her stepfather, Randal Williams, accidentally hit the baby, Williams' mother said.
Police said Williams, 28, was stabbed in the shoulder and the arm and ran from the home, on Mayson Turner Road between Marie and Flowers streets in northwest Atlanta. Police would not say what kind of knife was used.
No charges have been filed in the death, and police and the Fulton County District Attorney's Office continue to investigate.
Although Williams and Trinderlyn Snow Williams, 30, had been married only since Aug. 10, they had lived together about three years and had an explosive relationship, according to family members. Trinderlyn and her daughter moved into the house shortly before the wedding.
Williams, who used the stage name "2000," was an aspiring rapper scrapping for a break in the music business. The stabbing occurred shortly after he returned home from a gig at which he and his wife had argued.
Williams' mother, Chris Williams, said she got a call from her son's wife about 4 a.m. "Trin called me to say her girl stabbed my son. They were fighting and he accidentally hit the baby and the [12-year-old] stabbed him."
Police responded to the home about 3:30 a.m. after getting a hang-up 911 call but Williams was not there. About a half-hour later, Williams returned home but had lost too much blood for paramedics to save him.
"I'm sure he panicked" when he left the home, said his mother. "And then he realized that this was serious and he went back because it was his house."
Friends and Williams' family members said he and his wife started arguing at the Club Ritz on Old National Highway, where his group, Pimpalinium, was performing.
Witnesses at the club said Williams and her husband got into an argument and that she left about an hour before her husband.
It wasn't their first fight, family members said.
"This was a volatile relationship," said Williams' mother. She claimed her son was stabbed in the hand during a fight with his wife last year.
She said there was no police report of the stabbing because her son was wanted on a warrant, so he used Roderick, his brother's name, when he went to Grady Memorial Hospital.
Randal Williams was in violation of probation for a cocaine possession conviction in March of last year in Fulton County. He had failed to report to his parole officer, and a warrant was issued for his arrest in August 2001. He also used his brother's name when he was arrested during a domestic disturbance in September 2001, Williams' mother said. An Atlanta police report says officers responded to a domestic disturbance call and found Trinderlyn -- then his girlfriend -- with a bruised eye and bloody nose. Police charged Williams with battery.
Trinderlyn Williams has a criminal record of two drug and two fraud convictions and an arrest for obstruction of a law enforcement officer. There is an outstanding warrant for her arrest for probation violations.
Williams' mother said her son had been interested in singing since he was a boy and worked full time on his music career. His group released one CD and had another coming out next month.
"His main focus was looking for a break," she said, adding that he was getting older in a young man's business. "But he thought it would come."

Am I the only one that sees something wrong with this?
A 12-year-old northwest Atlanta girl...
A 12 year old with a 5 month old baby.
A 28yo aspiring rapper with a warrant out, so he uses his brother's name at the hospital. And he's too stupid to go to the hospital first!
Violence from the male, violence from the female. Violence from the whole family, and not one of them seems to think there is something wrong there.
Please don't tell us that the father of the baby is the girl's dead step-father. Please.
And a 28 year old stepfather. A grandfather at 28? The article doesn't say, but I'll bet grandma isn't much, if any, over 30.
My guess is that he's dead. Stabbed to death by his wife, the 12 year olds mother.
Ahhh, you worry to much, someone else will pay for it all.
