Gov. Ventura Prefers Garbage Man to Democrat Senator

Independent Minnesota Gov. Jesse Ventura is still so disgusted about how Democrats danced on Sen. Paul Wellstone's grave that he says he'd appoint a garbage man rather than a Dem to complete the late senator's term.

Ventura today continued to look for a "John Q. Citizen" to send to the lame-duck session of the 107th Congress.

"A spokeswoman for the governor's office said hundreds of non-politicians have called, dropped off resumes or sent letters, saying they're interested in the job. A few politicians also have applied," United Press International reported today in an item it headlined "Ventura: I won't appoint Democrat."

The governor told the St. Paul Pioneer Press: "Saturday night, I was at a party where I ran into an old friend who's a garbage man, and he said he might want to do it. And I thought it was kind of appropriate. A garbage man certainly can spot garbage when they see it."

Ventura, who left the Wellstone memorial early, his wife in tears, said he felt "very used and abused" at the "mean-spirited" rally.

"I'll return the favor now," he said. "Always remember, we SEALs, we don't get mad - we get even."

Those screaming, laughing, booing, foot-stomping "mourners" at the Wellstone rally - including Bill and Sen. Hillary Clinton, Al Gore, Walter Mondale, Senate plurality leader Tom Daschle and Sen. Teddy Kennedy - have shot themselves in the foot. Ventura had planned to replace Wellstone with another Democrat until he realized the depths of the Dems' depravity.

"Ventura's decision could send the Senate into chaos," UPI noted.

"Removing Minnesota from the Democrats' column would realign the body 49-49, giving the Republicans the edge with Vice President Dick Cheney casting tie-breaking votes. Less clear is whether this would entail a reorganization for the final weeks of the session."

Ventura has ruled out himself, Lt. Gov. Mae Shunk, Independence Party gubernatorial candidate Tim Penny and a number of other people as possible replacements. He will probably make his choice known Tuesday night after the polls close. The appointee will serve until the winner of the Senate race is sworn into office, UPI said.

George Will's column today is a classic. "Rollicking mourners" at the "service/rally." Mentions a registered Democrat voter--13 years of age--"which is old for a Springer Spaniel, which she is."

We've had plenty of garbage men (and women, read Hillary) already!

How about appointing a pastor; that would REALLY steam the Dems?!

Just clean him up, spray some Chanel #5 on him, call him a "sanitary engineer" and give him a seat next to Leaky Leahy.

At least garbage collecting is an honorable profession. Which is more than I can say for the job the poor sod would be filling.

No, it wouldn't. The Dems would still hold a 50-49 edge with Judas Jeffords' vote.

The trick will be finding a garbage man who is not already a democrat.

With Wellstone dead, the current count is 49Ds, 49Rs and 1 Judas. Ventura could really give Tommy D and the Rats big headaches in the lame duck session. It sounds like he just might do that. Watch for the rats to makes him some kind of offer.

I think that there is something honest and noble about garbage men. He should appoint a prostitute. That is mroe in keeping with the Dems. No one can spot a whore sooner than another whore.
