It's not the "thinking," it's the law. In Louisiana's unique system (California used to have a similar system), all candidates run in one big election. If no one gets 50%, the top two vote getters will run-off, in December.

So it looks like control of the Senate may be at issue AGAIN in December. Incumbent Democrat Landrieu against the top Republican, with one Senate seat at issue -- and squish Republican Linocln Chaffee of Rhode Island on the sidelines trying to decide whether to pull a Jeffords.

It ain't over 'til it's over.
