An editorial at GoGov brings up interesting point on what happens if the Minnesota Supremes take a long time to resolve a challenge to the election.

Jesse says he's used and violated by the Dems. Arn't we all!

Bob Novak referred to him as a "classical liberal" in his column, IIRC. If true, that can't be too bad of a thing. It's far better than a plain old neo-liberal rat.

What year is that card from? Not a clue. I found it on google.com. As I recall he played late seventies, early eighties.

Don't be outraged. They already voted in a dead man in Missouri. That was wrong and illegal. And they kept polls open after hours to do it. And the Senate took in the widow as if she were elected. She was not.
I think the court will rule that a second absentee ballot be issued. A copy of the new absentee ballot will be sent to all voters that were mailed the original absentee ballot, whether it's been requested or not. If the voter submits only one ballot - either the new ballot or the old ballot - that ballot will be counted (Wellstone votes will be ignored on the old ballot). If a voter submits both ballots, then only the new absentee ballot will be counted. If a voter shows up at a polling place and votes, all absentee ballots mailed by the user will be voided. Seems fair to me.

That would be the right result, but don't count on it happening.

Once again TonyInOhio, I want to thank you for finding that website link You're very welcome. I like listening to those, too - the Florida experience got hooked. :-)

the Florida experience got hooked Um, that would be "got me hooked". :-)

The Judges are not buying into the Dem's arguments. The Repub lawer set the tone. I pray you are correct. Thanks for the post.

Sounds like a ready-made recipe for disaster to me. With thousands of ballots out there, what's to keep someone from intercepting the mails and start marking Mondull on every one of them?

Hey, I feel worse than you. I misspelled "cannot."

if the Court orders this--then they are legislating from the bench--against the Constitution...shades of the NJ Court ruling...and what about the military votes ? A lot of these guys (and gals) vote before they ship out--that's what absentee ballots are for--they may not have a clue about what's going on, and may not be in a place where they will recieve their "new" ballot. Are they going to "delay' the vote certification too ? That opens up the "manufacture as many ballots as we need to win" scenario that New Jersey has...("Hey the Laut is behind by 1,500 votes ?? --oh lookee here ! I just found a WHOLE bunch of uncounted ballots !!)

According to my Beckett's guide, that card was from the 1970 Topps product. According to the alphabetical players guide put out by the same publisher, Page has had football cards (of at least minor issues) from 1969 through 1991. He must have gotten his law degree in the off season, like Steve Young did.
By the way, the card pictured earlier in this thread is considered his rookie card, and is valued at $25.

"Jeezz I remember him. He was a pretty good ball player. I hope he's a good judge and send the Dems packing."Not at all likely. He's your typical Jessie Jackson-black liberal. Whitey done him wrong. Also, was a terrible private practice attorney, which is why he was in the A.G.'s office to begin with. Got on the bench only because of his celebrity, and his opinions are a joke.
MN lawyer, here.

Listening to legal arguments, I always take the opposite side. Convince me why Wellstone should be able to block the absentee votes cast to Coleman before he died.
The government should not presume that voters wish to change their votes. The government can only reply to actual requests from voters to elections officials for a new ballot.
If the judges support this legal theory, I will be pleased. Fair and balanced when confronted with an almost impossible issue, because of such a short time.

Don't be outraged. What makes this particularly abhorrent to me is that they are changing people's votes without their permission. Just like the 'vote diviners' in Palm Beach County, but worse, because in this case, the voters intent was clear -- voting for Wellstone. To assume that, to a person, they WOULD have voted for Mondale instead, is presumptuous in the extreme.
