Cold. Heavy mist. Funereal.
Members of the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic gathered tonight to pay our (dis)respects to the demise of the the political fortunes of the friends of Bill and Hillary Clinton at a fundraiser hosted by Senator Clinton for the doomed Democratic candidate for governor of New York, Carl McCall.
Fighting our way through rush hour traffic, tgslTakoma, daughter of tgsl and I arrived on site a few minutes before 6 p.m. Driving up Whitehaven Street (the scene of the crime) we saw lots of open parking spaces. We could see Madame Hillary's was open for business, but, as usual the customers were to be received in the rear of the establishment.
In keeping with the season, two pumpkins adorned the entrance. They must have just been put out that evening because neither one had been kicked in yet by the Clintons' backyard neighbors the Cheneys.
Six Metropolitan Police department cruisers and a squad of motorcycle officers parked at the Massachusetts Avenue end of the street stood ready to greet us as we parked and got our protest signs out. We told the officers that we were there to protest Senator Clinton's fundraiser for Carl McCall and they informed us that's why they were here too and chastised us for being late (our permit application stated we would start at 5:30 p.m.)
I looked around at all the officers and told them that because of the lousy weather there were more of them than there would be of us. One of them asked if we planned on getting arrested. As soon as I mentioned we were from the D.C. Chapter of Free Republic he said we were alright.
We were soon joined by Jimmy Valentine's brother and SpacemanSpiff, both in costume--JVb as Hillary's queen-maker, Olde Scratch and Spaceman Spiff as, well, Spaceman Spiff!
Daughter of tgsl started out wearing a witch costume and then, before you could say Cher Sarkesian Bono Allman, she changed into a faceless demon outfit to match her mother's costume.
tgslTakoma has embarked on a new career: tombstone carver. Her handiwork was put on display tonight as she set up headstones for the Clintons' Political Graveyard.
Memorialized were the political careers of former Clinton acolytes Al Gore, Janet Reno, Robert Reich, and Carl McCall, along with a reserved space for the presidential ambitions of Ms. Hillary, herself.
Traffic turning onto Whitehaven Street was lighter than normal for a Hillary! soiree. No catering trucks were seen. Perhaps a witch's brew, instead of the usual Ritz Crackers and Cheez Whiz, was being served by the reincarnation of Pamela Harriman tonight.
Following on the heels of the Paul Wellstone Plane Crash Jamboree in Minnesota last night, it's understandable that the 'Rats were partied-out.
We wrapped it up around 7:30, just as Cardinal4 arrived. We retired to tgslTakoma's vehicle and talked for awhile as the few customers of Madame Hillary's drove past us as they left the wake for Carl McCall's gubernatorial bid.
I kept it to myself, but as we saw Terry McAuliffe leave in his gas-guzzling DNC Cadillac Escalade, I saw a headless horseman in hot pursuit.
BOO!
What'cha got cookin', FRiend?!

What a GREAT way to celebrate Halloween!!
Clinton is coming to Pine Bluff in a repeat of last elections Sunday rally to get out the RATS vote. Two years ago they opened the courthouse and bussed people in to vote on a Sunday! That was how Jay Dickey (R) lost the election to Mike Ross (D) by a little over 500 votes.
We are looking for a repeat performance this Sunday!
Check this link and especially the link in post 4 for more information.
best wishes,sw
It was and is inappropriate to refer to Hillary as a former First Lady, simply because Hitlery is no lady.
However, Hillary was Madame of the Clinton White House of Ill Repute.
BTW, have you heard anything else about the Ann Coulter book-signing? Looking for a chance to come down next month - anything cooking?
