While this is good news we cannot forget that this region contains less than 10% of the total U.S. population and lack of water will limit the growth before too long. Thus, the populous regions must be converted to republicanism or the RATS will stay far too powerful.

They also forget that Clinton's overly sicking style has cause many Liberals to puke. Gore was seen as much of the same or at best Boring!
There were probably less crats voting in that area because they were too Disgusted. On top of this the Crats will always lose populations due to thier excessive tax hikes. New York was also losing people during the ninties. Who wants to work extra hard for thier take home pay just so that the democrat freeloaders can have a share?

"Everybody we know here is from there," Gail Thompson says. The couple, who own a commercial printing business and describe themselves as conservative Republicans, began thinking of moving from California when their daughter was about to enter kindergarten. They found she would be in a class of 36 children. About 70% of them did not speak English.
"At about the same time, a guy walked into my shop and wanted to buy it," Marshall Thompson says. "I was getting tired of traffic, graffiti, dirty air."
On a visit to Coeur d'Alene, Marshall said they found "there was no graffiti, no trash on the roads, the sky was blue, the teenagers said hello to us on the street. How could we not love it?"
This also says alot about the difference between a liberal and Conservative community. Where would you rather live - An area where your neighbors have respect for you and your property or an area where you might get ganked for just stepping outside?

Good article.
A few points mentioned are worth hilighting.
People are getting tired of the high taxes and regulation. IE Socialism.
People are getting tired of the crime, gangs, graffiti, and social decay - the results of Socialism.
People are getting tired of catering to people who don't want to integrate into our society. These people are who the socialist libs are catering to.
The Democrats want to implement all their socialist schemes on a national level, so there's no escaping across state lines.
How fortunate we still have some state control over policies. This will allow people to move to other states where their votes will be less likely to be cancelled by an illegal voter/immigrant.

Many of the newcomers were affluent white voters from California. Yea, well a lot of them have been coming to Colorado and I assure you they are not tipping our politics to the right.

Although the mountain states may be becoming more Republican [a good thing], the corollary is that the areas which they are leaving are, by definition, becoming more Democrat [a bad thing].
Looks like a wash to me.

It's funny that you should post this now ... my husband and I have seriously been talking about leaving California for Idaho if Gray Davis wins re-election. I fear higher taxes, declining property values, and a declining quality of life.
We're thinking about renting an RV and driving up there next spring or summer after our baby is born and checking out Coeur d'Alene and the surrounding area.
