I would be interest in rebuttals to specific writings from Hals books.

Are you kidding? I read "Late Great Planet Earth" fifteen years ago. I don't have the book now, but I just shook my head over some of the stuff he predicted.

You're right. He never puts any dates on anything he writes. That way, he can trot it out twenty years later to a new generation of saps.

As fuzzy as it is, you ought to try to defend some of it.

That's what I thought.

Well you said:

Hal Lindsey became a very wealthy man being absolutely, completely, and totally wrong.

I just asked you to demonstate that that you weren't talking out your a$$. I guess you were.

As I recall his books, including LGPE, he compared current events to biblical passeges and discussed thier relationship to end times. In one book, though he acknowledged that"no man can know" he made a case for some time around 2007 as his best guess and it sounded reasonable.

As for his accuracy, I can't vouch for that. However, your veracity seems well established.

evidently he has obtained a spelling checker and grammar checker; his errors are now more sophisticated.

I enjoy listening to some of the creationists and how they explain their view of things. What drives me nuts, however, is when they make simple science errors. I yell at the TV, and it sometimes helps, but I fear that they defeat their goal.

I mean, if I see through several of their arguments and see them as false of misleading, what am I to think of their other statements that I do not understand? Are those false, too?

We sometimes call these "lies for Jesus." I wonder if they are just uneducated, or are lying. It's one or the other...

He forgot the Doomsday cult which will co-ordinate thousands of followers in a simultaneous "fart-a-thon" which will be lit beneath the Washington monument and will launch the structure into near-Earth orbit where it will gleam sunlight to the Farrakhan "mothership" and signal the beginning of the Nation Of Islam's reign over America with Red Chinese providing technical support........thereof.

I'll tell you one thing Hal didn't write about in the 1970's. He didn't come out and say that in 30 years people will be generally more moral and believing unto God. He didn't say that Israel would cease to be the focal point of world politics. He took what God said and tried to fit it into the world political system at the time and he was strikingly right and continues to be so. He's not a prophet but his books give a very insightful idea of what out future might be like based on events today. I'll have to dig up some of his books to see what they said about Islamic extremism.

That is what I took away from reading his work. I read LGPE years ago and didn't think much of it till years later when I ran across another of his books. The last one I read was about two years ago.

I think that to be one of the post inspired articles I have read in along time! You have sincerely researched all aspects and I give you that credit!

I wold like to say I would like to just say what you have just said in as few a words as I personally feel!: Please bare with me! Please!

I agree! Is it so hard for a World that knows deep down within it's soul that such a disastrous event will occur if something does not occur to stop it??

Yes, the answer is because there are those that would have the world sacrifice those that support them the most or hate them the most go up in smoke for a few hours of ""glory""! God, has history not taught us anything???????

The fall and rise of the Roman Empior (please for give my spelling ) was morallity contected! They all ended up being homo-sexuals, pedifiles, against one race or the other!!!!!!!! It all ended up being diseased and polluted! Therefore the greatest of all empires fell! Was it hate crimes??? No!!!!!!!!!! It was lack of leadership and moral code!!!!!!!!!

That brings up Moral Code! Do Unto Others As You Would Have Them Do Unto You! Now how in the world can that be considered hate?

A black hole at the center of the galaxy is unlikely to "threaten our solar system."

At that point I was pretty sure the article was a satire. The remainder of the article only reinforced that impression.

"Superdome" isn't about killer bees. "The Bees" is about killer bees and ends in the Superdome. Both were made in 1978, and both are horrid, but that's some pretty bad research to confuse these (also note, "The Bees" did not have the killer bees migrating normally, they were snuck in), fact checkers should know how to find IMDB.com.

preterist, post-millennial or amillennial?

Preterist, after reading several books on the subject but I'm still studying and working out some of the details. The timeline in Daniel chapter 9 about the 70 weeks makes it pretty obvious that the prophecies of the Messiah were to be completed within the lifetime of some of those in the early church. There is no reference in scripture to the prophecy clock being stopped and there are no references to a rebuilt temple, either.

Of course, that's just the very tip of the iceberg on this subject. The main thing is that most people only read a couple of the Left Behind series and never explore the other interpretation(preterist, partial preterist, etc.). If truth is truth, then we are all looking for the same thing and there should be no problem with examining all of the commentary from good sources.

Of course, if Jesus already came then we have lots of responsibility to make this earth a better place instead of just waiting on Him to come back and fix all our problems, which is the most extreme form of escapism.

and there are no references to a rebuilt temple, either.

hmmm ... well time will tell ... nonetheless, since Revelation or the Apocalypse is generally dated as 95 A.D., some 25 years after the destruction of the Jerusalem Temple during the 70 A.D. Diaspora, the Apostle John is told to measure an apparently rebuilt Temple in Revelation 11 ... of course if it's reduced to allegory, which is often done, then it won't be perceived as such ...

In fact, during the 1973 Yom Kippur attack, one of Israel's leaders, I don't remember if it was Menachem Begin or Golda Meir (or someone else) stated (believing they *would* be overrun) that "it's the End of the Third Temple" ... the conservative and orthodox Jews are highly motivated to put up a Third Temple ...

obviously, I'm a dispensational premillennialist; have been for 20 years, so we're miles apart on the issue ... and as I believe, we'll have to wait for time to play out on this issue ... FReegards
