``We were looking for a white van with white people, and we ended up with a blue car with black people,'' said Washington, D.C., Police Chief Charles Ramsey, whose department ran the Caprice's license Oct. 3, just hours before a fatal shooting in Washington that has been tied to the sniper suspects, John Allen Muhammad, 41, and John Lee Malvo, 17.

Because the cops were looking for dangerous White Male Christian Gun Nuts, the real killers were stopped 10 ten time and released.
Just more proof that Political Correctness can kill innocent people and waste million of $'s with police profiling and look for evil whites due to their bosses ignoring solid leads.
Since the original came from the Washington Post, you will have to go the link to read the entire article.

Since this was on the front page and was breaking news for the Mercury, I posted this in breaking news.
It may be time to move even these front page stories re the Snipers to Extended News. It is up to you to make the call.

And everyone was marveling at how easily these people just disappeared into thin air after each shooting. That notion led to even more misinformation, such as the snipers must know the area like the backs of their hands, etc.

It's almost like these snipers, while creeping around after murders with their headlights off, had moles working on the task force pushing the "White Man White Van" theory for them.
To: Grampa Dave
And the silence of the libs and Dems is deafening. You know they were salivating, primed to start blaming Bush, talk radio, etc. if the sniper was "the angry white male".

Anyone else notice how often these guys and "YMCA" come up in the same sentence? Both in this article and others about their life near Seattle they hang out at the Y.
Funny rumor from another post too that they weren't really "sleeping" at the rest stop either.

An interesting headline. PC kills!
Is it me or is there a lack of English acumen in today's media. The cable news weenies report that Sen Wellstone was KILLED in an airplane crash. Did he DIE or was he KILLED. I see a difference but today's crop of news editors don't.
Is it me?

How hard is it to search a car for a rifle? A 34" long rifle? Where could you hide it?
But, of course, that would be an "unreasonable search" and would require a search warrant - according to our courts.
Given that they were checking the car's plates for violations, a serach for a rifle would take LESS time. Remember: these two were pretty dumb - (just not as dumb as the DC cops).

The reason the people got away was because cops were looking for a white van. Everyone was programmed to look for a white van with a ladder rack. Profiling the suspect as white was standard. But it was not the cop's fault these guys were not taken to task. NOBODY saw them shoot anyone.

I noted with interest your comment a while back about how police sometimes interviewed teachers, either active or retired, in order to see if they recognized the handwriting of a criminal's note.
And now we find out that the police did indeed go to the high school in Bellingham, WA, to get samples of Malvo's handwriting. Though they did so after the fact, the principle is the same as the one you pointed out. You were right.

Once the evidence got out of control and censorship by the Politically Correct Crowd, the case was rapidly solved.
Rita Cosby (I hope that is her name) broke the news about the license plate and the car's description. That got out on more news. The brave truck driver heard the car description and saw the plates and blocked the exit from that rest stop.
One of the ladies at a dinner party we went to last night, said that he tried to call the police about the car and got shuffled around. He gave up and called a radio station. Then when he called again, he got a response. It would be interesting to see the time line on his calls, responses if any and what he had to do to insure that the killers did not leave.

But it was not the cop's fault these guys were not taken to task. NOBODY saw them shoot anyone. Hindsight is 20/20, but the cops did have two opportunities to nail the snipers:
1. The tipline received an anonymous call suggesting John Malvo be checked out. The tip was disregarded due to his age.
2. There was a witness who described a brown or burgundy Caprice leaving one of the crime scenes, but for some reason that vehicle never received the notoriety of the "white van/box truck".
In context, both may have been a bit thin at the time.

I don't know about moles. However, they had a Politically Correct Moose doing what he did in Portland, Or and why he got the job in Montgomery County. Nothing goes out about rainbow suspects. Only evil white guys get a Bola warning.
This was standard practice in Portland after the PC moosing of the police department was accomplished.

The thing that amazes me is the most suspicious car seen leaving the shootings.... slowly with its lights out is hardly mentioned by police.....and this was the one!!
And worst yet it was early in the shooting spree.
There is no doubt police methods will be reformed by this killer. While the public is grateful, the killer was caught, the sloppy police activities make one wonder if the police or the killers were more incompetent.

yeah..you know what these "rest stops" are famous for. Especially for islamist terrorists murdering thugs.

Blame me for the PC add on comment.
However you are correct. Whenever a gang banger is shot down in an urban area. The headlines will often state "Victim killed by gun!"
My favorite is undocumented worker or persons.
Good pick up on this.

But, of course, that would be an "unreasonable search" and would require a search warrant - according to our courts. Of course! We need to get rid of all that bill of rights stuff right away! We need a safe society, not a free one. After all, if the police had unrestricted search and seizure powers, we could search everyone all the time. At home, in thier cars, their businesses, bank accounts, financial and personal papers. For no reason at all, just to be sure they weren't committing some crime. I'm sure you wouldn't mind. after all if you have nothing to hide why would you object?

Maybe the killers should have painted a sign on their car telling the police they were the killers.

"We were looking for a white van with white people..." said Washington, D.C., Police Chief Charles Ramsey, "containing the killers of Chandra Levy."
Just rubbing it in.
