Free Republic's Technical Problems
Posted on 10/25/2002 2:13:30 PM PDT by per loin
Of late, FR seems plagued with slowdowns. Is this a temporary problem or is some limit being approached?

I'm disappointed, everytime something significant happens, I get 'booted' off. What's going on. Do we need to buy new/additional equipment? One word: Hammering!

The IULH (International Union of Long-Hamsters) has accused Free Republic of locking out the hamsters. No word if Bush will order a cooling off period, but off the record Free Republic has suggested that the hamsters were engaged in a slowdown.

I believe the Technical problems on Free Republic are caused by a small group of lawyers who refuse to pay their Beer Debts.

Beta and cable here. At least I can pretend that things are moving. I feel for those on dial up.

Richard Gere raiding the FR server again?

"One word: Hammering!" What does that mean?

They've gotta quit depending on the repair guy in the white van.

Do the Beta FreeRepublic site and the regular site run on different servers? Why can we get it here and not there?

You just had to go there, didn't you?

It seems to me that the last time the FR server was this slow, it corresponded with the DDOS attack on root main servers (10-21-02).

It's the insurgence of RATS trolling FR to see if freedom-loving Americans are stomping on the tragic demise of the now-defunct resident communist of the US Senate.
By all accounts, he was a very nice, very principled communist and our prayers go out to his surviving sons, grandchildren, friends staff and family.
No one, I sincerely hope, has glee over the way and timing with which he left this world. God bless America and our Constitutional FREE Republic.

I can barely copy and paste, let alone beta FR, whatever that means.

Any clue? A hint as to what is wrong would be much appreciated.

Try this site,
Internet Health Report. Looks like the backbones Genuity and Verio are down, causing some network congestion.

Can you hear me now?

Maybe I fixed it. If this thing hangs together another 15 minutes I'm going to celebrate... get drunk or something. SOOOOO FRUSTRATING!

I'm on regular URL. It's been down off and on most of the day. Occasionally, I get to the first page of FR, but can't get any of the threads to come up.
I now have the URL for Beta FR, but can't bookmark it, so I saved the URL. I canNOT get to any discussion page. Can anyone tell me how to do that on Beta?
