VANITY:Do Republicans now have a Senate majority?

Let's say Ventura appoints an Independent. That makes it 49-49 with Cheney breaking ties, right? Prayers to the Wellstones.

The winner of this election won't be seated until January.
Jesse should/can appoint someone to serve until then.

Maybe you shouldn't be so quick to think others are missing the point eh?

(Ventura)'d be laughed off the American stage if he tried to appoint himself.

He might be laughed at, but he'd still serve the stint.
Remember how we all laughed at the slogan "Hillary Clinton for Senate"??

Anything can happen.

I think Jesse will do nothing before the election. After the election, we'll just have to see.

Under the US Constitution, and the Constitution of the state of Minneasota allow the governor to appoint a interim occupant.
Vantura said he will not appoint himself to the open seat.

I guess technically, there is a majority in the Senate right now. Noone to cast the vote makes it 49-49-1, with Cheney as the tiebreaker.

Time to call up some votes on federal judges.

I'm thinking that Bill Clinton will go there tomorrow, buy a house in Minne-qua, Chapaqua (sp?) of the mid-west, and be appointed by the Dems to run. He and Hillary will then both be senators. Oh BARF!!!!

My guess would be that Jesse appoints Mondale until January. The DFL chooses Skip Humphrey to run against Coleman.

Did the DNC pull a Carnahan on Wellstone because they thought it would improve their chances of holding the MN seat?

Deaths are an advantage to lock a vote in for the party of that dead person. (Going by recent history)
Between substitutions and dead candidates, the Democrats have 3 locks I think. Hawaii (wwhich they had anyway), Toriceklki's Jersey seat and now this fellow.

Before a substitution and a death, two deats went from a probable loss for the Dems to a probable +2. Hawaii was a lock anyway.

I hope I am wrong and we might get a majority anyway, but it is what it is.

Maybe is a special session is called the Republicans might have control for a while? Could be!!!!

After the elections, I hope Repulicans control the whole thing.
I'm voting this weekend by mail.

Possibly to "energize the base". Any lefties swinging to the right will now be shuffled back into the fold in the next few days as we find out that "foul play may have been involved" and question "how will Republicans use his death to their advantage". Basically the media will put words in the GOP's mouth to make everyone question -- did the GOP kill him?

The Senate doesn't have a business session until Nov 12. So there's no need for a Senator until then.

I expect Jesse to wait for the election and then appoint the winner like the freeper suggested above. Though Jesse can be hmm.. unpredictable.

I don't think Ventura will let this thing become a farce, like what happened in Missouri. It'll be interesting.

I think we now have confirmation of our suspicions about why Torch got out. It was a wise move.

When will the Republicans have the cojones to expose the Dems as the criminal enterprise that they are?

If the DNC could kill off all of the rats in close elections this year they might be able to retain power.

Don't tempt them.

"Though with Jeffords getting little to nothing from the RATS for jumping, Chafee might not be so likely to take any bait the RATS offered him."

I keep thinking about the 1100 (or so) copies of the FBI files that are in Hillary's greasy, knarled, gray-green hands. If an obvious answer is not available to a puzzing question, this may be the back pocket answer.

I doubt Minnesotans would accept not having a Senator for that long until January- three months.

Suggest you re-read my post, to wit: Depending on the victor in the election, they should be seated immediately. By this I meant to have the victor of the 11/05/02 election seated as soon as confirmed. This puts the victor in office in November, not three months later in January and in plenty of time for a lame-duck session.

Let's make Chafee make the choice - it will be no doubt for the Dems but just show the sheeple that there is never going to be a conservative government. It is NOT the desire of this "Two-Party Cartel". It's owned (bought & paid for) by elites that won't allow it. Just watch.

Sorry, guess I didn't read your last sentence. I hate when that happens!
