While not all evidence is in, it looks like the sniper was a Muslim. Huge surprise to some.

All the newsmedia talking heads and the "expert" profilers, have been saying the sniper was a white domestic right-wing domestic. Even as more evidence mounted that this could possibly be terrorism, the networks did all they could to steer clear of it.

Freepers have been saying this was Islamic terrorism since day one. I guess that makes the Freepers smarter than the people whose job it is to profile. But we're really not smarter we just have common sense, and we're not afraid to be un-PC. We are at war with Islam, and anybody who tries to pretend that we're not is a fool.

One of the anthrax mailings said something along the lines of "death to america, death to israel, allah is great". This led the experts to believe that this is a domestic right wing terrorist. I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that just like in the sniper case, the "experts" are wrong. We're at war with Islam here people, wake up.

You got that right. If I had my way, I'd tell the Justice Department, the FBI, all of the local jurisdictions where these killings took place, and even President Bush to turn this dude over to me, then kindly look the other way. Lake Erie-style justice is like watching hot dogs being made. It ain't pretty.

So you need to turn on your rationality filter, and learn to separate wheat from chaff. In other words, since Camden is not a tiny, isolated village, and is instead a good sized city in a major metropolitan area, all you state now is coincidence, especially since the perp had a bona fide family connection there.

There's a problem with that. The sniper, whoever he is, shot and killed people of more then one race. mafree knew one of the victims, I believe. He was black.

But did he kill any Muslims? Muslims are color blind, they see either brother or Infidel; guess which category the victims fell into?

Read what I wrote. I didn't say he had been there. I said there were "links." I don't know what they are, but the police obviously find something pretty suspicious there.

You are right about that. I'm a bit concerned about the message Moose put out a few hours back--about the sniper being caught like a duck on a noose--saying it was important to the sniper to say this. I'm worried this may be a signal to other terrorists to maybe pick up where these guys left off--A code word to begin other instances. Anyone else mulling over this possibility(sorry if it's been on other threads-I can't follow the vast # of sniper threads or I'd get nothing else done;-)

I believe that these were random killings. The trigger man could have shot a Muslim unsuspectingly, but I don't think that this happened.

At any rate, this "hate crimes" talk is nonsense. The way I see it, it was terrorism pure and simple. Now we await the investigation to tell us if he had any foreign connections. A foreign connection is not necessarily a prerequisite for terrorism, but it will be interesting to find out nonetheless.

I'm not saying he is or isn't. It isn't likely, based obn the facts as they currently stand, there is no proof of that, yet people on this board are speculating conclusively that there is a huge Muslim conspiracy, and Mertz is calling for rounding up American Muslims. That is what sounds silly - this certainty that this is wider and deeper than some disaffected loser.

Maybe talking about what a terrorist cell is and how they operate would be helpful here.

A cell can be two or three people, deciding to plot their own attack for the cause. They do not have to know any other terrorists, or have a connection to any terrorist organization.

A cell can also be two or three people, with connections to a terrorist organization, who have the option to wait for orders, or to plot their own attacks for the cause.

In no way can the media, or anyone else, be allowed to misdirect everyone to the assumption that the sniper is a lone right wing, gun nut, white guy, then ignore or play down the Islamic connection when the evidence is in. The perps were "lone" Islamic terrorists, they fit the definition of terrorist cell, period, no way around it.

What is so odd about the response of "you're making connections where no evidence exists"? Perhaps you've been calling Miss Cleo for insight, but the only Muslim aspect of this set of crimes has been a changed last name and a conversion 17 years ago. Theres been no indication of Muslim devotion, and the messages so far have been devoid of Islamic elements. Plus, the guy has major screws loose, given how he got caught.
