I wonder if their mission was over. Hence the duck/noose message. They purposefully went to a place where their well publicized license plate would be recognised.

i'm with sort of with you on that one......they might have done the dirty work, though...but I just don't believe they were clever enough to come up with the whole thing.....sleeping when the entire nation is watching everything unfold LIVE on every station? "whew...I'm exhausted with this sniping stuff...let's pull over into a rest area off a major highway in Maryland in the car the entire nation is looking for and catch a few zzzzzz.."

The message is just to let someone know that they are going someplace and they aren't coming back.
Still think they had a safe harbor near Fredericksburg where they wound up all three weekends of their scenario.
The other haven looks like it may be the ex-wife or friends of theirs (his not hers) in the DC area.
Man, there must be a slew of crimes across the country that may be connected to these "jobless" guys.
Wonder now if the crimes which were "not linked" in the DC area (with robbery motives) will be linked. They just use a different gun and MO for the robberies.
