Let's keep a live commentary thread going again today. The FBI Tip Line #1-888-324-9800.
All seems quiet since yesterday's news the shooter may target children specifically. It was released on various news outlets the shooter's 3-page letter to police was in broken English and threatened extreme violence. Police announced an electronic transfer of $10m as requested by the shooter was not possible but other options for transfer remain open. No one seriously believes police will actually give the shooter $$, but police are trying to keep a dialogue open with the shooter in an effort to capture this monster.

Sorry for all my typos... I am tried and have been up all night again (night owl) I normally hit the bed at 5am.

What's a wahala? It's a pass-word (and verbal) (and based on trust) (no written record) money transfer system used in the Middle east.

I know. It seems that is what many pyromaniacs do.
They set the fire and then mingle with the crowd enjoying the show.

1-800-1SNIPER
I sure hope they don't screw up the 1-800 / 1-888 thing again.
To: katnip
well i had heard it theorized that he may be mingling afterwards, but that he would CALL IN is REALLY creepy. but i guess, not surprising, since he is craving the notoriety. i feel like we are living in a made for tv movie.

The number he gave them was to a payphone that they (the cops) now have redirected to the police station but there was some problem with it. Read a few of the links that were posted very early in this thread.

The sniper started his one-shot murdering the day after Ari Fleischer said "one bullet is all it would take [to remove Saddam]".
There's some indication the sniper is working to a theme of the American People, American Business and the American President: the shooting at Home Depot, the shooting at a Presidential Taxi driver , "Father, mother, priest and King" on the tarot card, the shooting at the gas stations, the shooting of and threats on children.
Continuing on the "children" aspect. Remember Saddam's usage of "baby milk factories", his taking of British children and families hostage during the Gulf War, his constant use of little children in photos. Saddam is fascinated with children as props and pawns.
And in the recent note: "Your childen are not safe anywhere and anytime". That "anywhere and anytime" is the exact phrase we -- the President -- have been demanding in inspecting for weapons in Iraq.
So *NO*, it is *not* apparent to everyone now that the sniper is a lone operative -- NOR SHOULD ANY SO BELIEVE! For safety's sake the best assumption is that this is one act of war, and others are planned.

tried = tired (see I told you so)
I need to lay down a get some sleep. FR is sooo addicting though!

That is interesting. The words "I" and "I'd" sound almost just alike but greatly change the meaning of the statement. It is possible that Richard was simply misunderstood. Did you hear the show?

"The above is 100% pure speculation; accept no substitutes" Oooh, I'm being quoted. Cool!
Aside: I'm sure that this has been brought up in the past few weeks, but wasn't the sniper in the (awful) movie Navy Seals called "God"?

When Ron Kuby said to him "I'm sure they're checking parked cars in the area", Richard said "I go 10 to 15 blocks away". Now, THAT is an interesting post!!

I didn't hear it the first time, but after a woman called in and mentioned it, they finally did.
They took a very long break before replaying it, I believe they may have been contacting authorities.
They did keep asking Richard to call back again. It sounded like "I" to me.

Re: the 800 number
Moose: ..."Call us at the same number you used before to obtain the 800 number you have requested."...
I believe the shooters will use the 800 number to set up two more chumps like they did with the Mexican and Guatemalan, and made the cops look like fools. The shooters will test the police response again using decoys.
