Beltway Sniper Shootings-FR Commentary-Wed., Oct. 23,2002
Fox News, CNN, Press Conferences | October 23, 2002 | Fox News, CNN, Press Conferences

Let's keep a live commentary thread going again today. The FBI Tip Line #1-888-324-9800.

All seems quiet since yesterday's news the shooter may target children specifically. It was released on various news outlets the shooter's 3-page letter to police was in broken English and threatened extreme violence. Police announced an electronic transfer of $10m as requested by the shooter was not possible but other options for transfer remain open. No one seriously believes police will actually give the shooter $$, but police are trying to keep a dialogue open with the shooter in an effort to capture this monster.

Wow...gone for a few hours and all heck breaks loose!

Did I hear correctly that there are search warrants in several states?

Sounds like more than one person, whether domestic or foreign!

Brian Wilson who earlier said he was holding back now saying maybe they are searching for multiple individuals, they are trying this same scenario around the country, just guessing.

How can he say he knows something he can't say and then hypothesize (sp)a scenario?

FORT LEWIS SOLDIER ARRESTED IN TACOMA---RELATED? LINK LINK

Kudos to South Sound police officers who made a quick arrest in the case of the Interstate 5 shooter. Police arrested a 22-year-old Fort Lewis soldier in connection with a number of shooting incidents in the region. The soldier is accused of firing a 20-gauge shotgun at a motorist driving south on I-5 between Grand Mound and Centralia. He is also suspected in a couple of other shooting incidents, including one at a Hawks Prairie roundabout where a motorist was injured. Contrast the soldier's quick arrest with the horror that grips residents living in and around the nation's capital, where a sniper has shot and killed several individuals -- while they were mowing the lawn, sitting on a bench, pumping gas. Residents are understandably in a panic, altering their daily routines in an effort to escape the sniper's bullet. Muslims have plenty of blood on their hands to account for if this turns out to be a non-muslim. We still don't know anything.

Perhaps he's been *asked* to "hypothesize" this?

Geez - if it turns out its the french guy even after all of this, I'm going to be mad.

If it turns out to be Charlton Heston himself, I am going to relieved.

"You know, my husband just can't understand why I spend time here. He says it's not normal to be friends with people I don't know. He just doesn't get it. "

It's really great when you get to meet the people in real life. I've met so many wonderful people from FR!
